600 seems like a lot, but that shows my poor information. I was calculating something closer to 500.
Yes you're doing the right thing by just asking a lot of questions and taking just a little bit of time here. Just don't go run out buying stuff just yet. Likely it's an easy fix. I'm not a big money spender so if you're looking for someone to tag you on to help you buy a lot of stuff I'm not the right guy. But if you are going to buy stuff up try and play into something more budget-minded. Bill at that said likely what you have to be fixed. likely some things just old and gummed up.

F*#KIN lame, & that's all 95% of shops are anymore, nobody "fixes" anything & their lack of knowledge is the primary reason why. Well, seeing Your revision, if this is a
feedback carb, the mixture control solenoid could be bad...hard to come by. That is a very familiar symptom.......................
Pretty sure this could be solved super fast 10 years ago.

Oh boy my voice command killed it on that last post! LOL you sound pretty eager to spend a lot of money so just go ahead and do it. What does all this going on I assume it's in a bottle your brand new here can we get a picture of the car? Is it a truck? What's going on?

I don't want to spend it. I just don't want the problem to come back in 6 months when I am 3 states away from home. All the money saved is gone with one trip to an overpriced mechanic in the middle of a desert. Its a B300 conversion van. So I doubt you would enjoying looking at it, haha. I have a budget I saved up to spend on it, but want to explore all options before spending a single dime. I think you all have convinced me that upgrading to 4bb with a factory intake and new 4bb might be the best option, and I can then install the 4 injector efi later if it turns out not to be my liking. I have a 600 edelbrock in my dads garage, if it hasn't walked off.

Pardon, I added to My post, but Yeeaahhhhh 10 may be pushin' it, 15yrs. I'm sure of it. Nobody want's to bother or think now if a tablet/android based scanner isn't involved.

How is the fuel filter and pump output & pressure? A low fuel level will cause a lot of hesitation because the mains won't start up soon enough, & the accel pump shot may
be too short as well.

Actually, this is something I need to look into. It sat for longer periods of its life, so this isn't stretching by any means.

Also, I almost overlooked it, but even though that's low miles for the year, be sure the heat crossover is getting exhaust flow through it. They are known to clog, to the point
of packed completely shut, and the engine runs lean & hesitates. Usually a side effect is the choke is slow to open fully, & the idle takes a bit longer to kick down to base idle.
Check heat riser flap & be sure it's working also.

Thanks, the exhaust is open atm. Its on the to do list.

Are you clear as to what Killer6 is referring to? This crossover is inside the intake manifold and does plug up as described above, then problems like what you're describing.

The Holley Sniper 2 barrel system will bolt right on with a Holley 2300 adapter and is only a tick over a grand with fuel pump and all. I am looking at it for a project I am working on.

Apparently I didn't understand then. Thanks for clearing that up.

Do think it will ever matter that its a 2 injector system?

Has it mattered that it was a 2 barrel?

I think my biggest concern was resale. If I did install a 4 injector efi, I think I could sell it when the engine blows and then junk the vehicle. I am not sure there would be the same market for the 2 injector efi.

Well, then I guess you will have to decide. I never take resale into consideration. EFI is EFI unless you're making big power. Have you even read about the 2300 Sniper unit? They are very nice.

Iv been looking at pretty much all of the efi systems. The only one I found with issues is the Go EFI Fuel Command Center. Apparently it boils gasoline and then explodes.

Okay I'm only going to say this once- KEEP IT SIMPLE! It's what you're asking for.

Well isn't that special?

where in Indiana are you? I know of an older gentleman that can rebuild that thing for you

For that amount of money you could just swap in a magnum.

Well for sure spending that much money on some old beater for a fuel management system that you plan on selling after the beaters gone is got to be one of the worst plans I've ever heard. Especially when we bought our Durango for $1,250 with a magnum motor with fuel injection with air conditioning and cruise control and four-wheel drive. We just had a nice trip up to Seattle in it. So everything's relevant, I think spending that kind of money on something that's disposable is not would I call a good decision.
