I am still active duty, have 12 years to go. Sorry to hear about your misfortunes on the job. Hope your holidays are bright. Cheers to you!
Hey, Like they always say Stay Safe Out There! What department are you with I may want to trade patches with you. May your holidays be great and most important of all that you come home after each shift, God Bless, Brian

Just a little update on my 67GT progress. I’ve been working on my first attempt on interior upholstery. I bought legendary products and Im in the process of stripping and covering the frames. Kinda fun to see it all come together.

I’m wrapping the sides and backs with the same leather I did my dash in.

I’ve gotten the bottoms of the seats done but I’m in the process of making the seat medallions for the uppers. They are taking longer than I wanted but are coming out well. CNC lead times have been a little slow going on the prototypes. I have a write up in the interior threads of you haven’t seen it.

Hopefully I get my chromed set back from the dip and the seats can get finished after the new year.

I also got a Hotchkis TVS system, PST 1.03 bars and KYB shocks as the next project to put on. So I’ll update as I go along with that as well.

Cheers!!

I didn't realize how little they made for the parts when I got mine, in 1999. I'm glad I was able to get my interior with those medallions still there. I lucked out on price too, I don't know if I could get all the parts again fo anywhere near what I paid then.

Are you making any extras for spares, or for those in need?

I’m too am finding out how little parts are produced. I could find the medallions, but just weren’t up to par for me as I was putting new skins on the seats. So, some computer design, 3d print prototypes and finally the billet CNC versions. I’m stoked to have great pieces that were deigned to be original like but are supper clean. My chromed ones should be done next week. I have also designed and having produced, billet CNC backings.

I’m figuring out logistics, price and the potential hurdles of having more of these produced. That said, I will end up with two complete sets of medallions and backings and l I’m only using one. The second of two may end up on the for sale board or otherwise once my seats are done.

Cheers!!

Great job, wish I was able to make it much more fun than just buying it!!

Thanks! This hobby is a pretty cool one, I must say. For me it’s the little details that make the puzzle come together. I find if I don’t have a piece... I get creative.
I’ve used this site as an awesome resource not only for info, but parts and encouragement. The collective of folks found here is unparalleled for A-body restorations and feedback.

Cheers!

Just a little update. I’ve been working on these since September. I got my chrome set of medallions back and they turned out well. I also fixed my backing design and had them CNCd as well. The set is pretty much ready to be finally placed on the covers. (I’ll have one other complete set). Hoping to finish my seats in the following weeks as I’ve been sick here for a while.

Cheers!!

Just a little update on my never ending project. Haha. I have almost finished buttoning up the interior. My emblems have be installed and they are awesome. I finished installing all the seats in the car. New rear view mirror, inner handles, armrests/bases. I had wrapped my dash in leather and continued the flow to the seats. The side panels and rear panels got wrapped as well. I’ll do the package tray and trunk in time.

The suspension has been installed. Took a few days and a few hours to align. I’m running the sport alignment configuration Hotchkis recommends. I installed the Hotchkis TVS system, their shocks and PST 1.03 bars. Night and day in the corners here on the mountainous roadways. Pictures show Monroe shocks, circa 1991. Hahah. I do have a set of PST adjustable strut arms if anyone is looking for some.

Car is getting further along. Color sand and buff is gonna be next. Wheels and tires should be after that and a VintageAir retrofit to follow.

Cheers!!

Damn that's nice! You haven't skimped on the quality of that interior. I love the blue, it looks gorgeous.

Thanks! The interior has come along nicely. Taken a while, but well worth it. There are so many more thing to get done, but hoping to get it to some shows this spring.

I would have been done a long time ago! All my cars are scruffy, for now. I am picking up a 1966 Polara 500 in Oregon on Friday. Rust free California car, I will finally have a car worthy of paint right away. It won't happen that fast, but it will get painted soon. Interior needs redoing, but the headliner is mint, so I can do most of the work. I'll farm out the seats, already know the prices, and I'm fine with them. I have one currently, but the stepson has laid claim to it, and I might take back some parts to make it cheaper for him. My Dart has a long way to go, but I'm going to get it on the road this year. It will need rust repair, possibly a front frame rail, quarters will need some attention. I have all kinds of parts from years of piecing together what I wanted. GT clone with fiberglass Hemi hood, fenders, and bumpers, 440/727 3.23 8 3/4. Should be fun! I'd love to see your car in person, it looks like the paint is still wet!

Super nice it's another twin lol

I was hoping so, but I've been told by the home office, I must sell something. Luckily, my stepson will be buying it, but he has other plans for the interior, he wants a more race car feel. Racing seats, tin interior and a boll bar. I got buckets, a console and steering column from a 500 parts car if he wants to go back to stock-ish. I also just swapped interiors (minus dash and headliner, that was in the cards for this year) out of a parts car so I finally had the right bench in the car after close to 15 years! I'll keep that too. I have all kinds of spare parts that will be in storage for quite some time! A rust free car! I just jumped up my progress chart a bunch!

Doh! You were talking about the Dart! My bad, can you tell where my head is at?

Looks like you’ll have a cool project to play with. Congrats!! I used the Legendary interiors parts and werent too hard to install. It’s not all perfect but I’m happy with my results. Leather touches are kinda nice to break it all up but still look factory.

The color sanding will commence in a couple weeks. I’ve been waiting for any shrinkage to occur. Has a little more peel than I was hoping for, but most of it should go away and the paint will even look more wet once done .

Cheers!

Well, after driving the car around a couple days and working out any suspension bugs, which really were nonexistent.....I’ve parked the car and have started the cut and buff fun.

It’s gonna take me a while as I only got thru a few panels this weekend. (Fenders, hood, cowl, and passenger door.) I’m using the 3m perfect-it system, with 1200 cutting the rough and moving to 1500 and 3000 for paper. Three compounds and four different pads takes a while to get one panel done. I’m not looking for a perfectly flat finish as it’s a driver, but I want it to have a better finish than what it is. There is dirt, peel and die-back. It will look a lot better when done.

Cheers!

Beautiful Car and great story. Glad to see the car made it's way back home. Good luck to your kid joining the Navy. I'm also in the Navy it's a good time for the most part, has it's days for sure, but very rewarding.

Little update. The color sanding is complete as of this afternoon. Overall it came out really good. I’m stoked to have it moving along. I still have to put emblems and doors together. I have little engine bay things to do, but moving on from here, will be a better looking package tray and trunk inserts. If anyone has come across a donut spare that will work on the big axle pattern please let me know.

Cheers!

I'm looking for a spare replacement myself for the same reason. I'm pretty sure a 16" spare from a Ford escape or the Mazda Tribute will work (24 " diameter) .

Beautiful car BTW !! Great attention to detail and it shows!

Haven’t been on here for a while. Here is a little update. Been busy working on my VintageAir set up. It’s all done except for vents and some small details. Blows hot heat and cold air. Pretty happy so far. I’ll get better pics up of the set up later. I’m away from home till Friday night. I’m trying to make it for the Sunday of the Spring Fling in L.A.

Cheers!

Beautiful car. Great story. Super tribute to your brother. Nice to see your boy involved. Everything this hobby is about.
Thanks for sharing.

Good evening all,
I’ve been on this site for seems like years, and have failed to start a restoration post. Not sure if all know my story of my car but here is a brief history. My brother bought the car in 1992 and blew the motor in 93.
Brother graduated high school and sold the car to friend in the same year. My brother passed away in a car accident in 1996. The friend contacted me in 2015 and asked if I wanted the car back. To which I said yes. So... that’s the gist.

I’m 41 now married with two kids. (One who joined the Navy yesterday on the Delay Entry Program). Life gets busy, but we all need a hobby right? Haha. The car has mostly been built in my garage and has been a work of and by close friends and this site for knowledge. The car is getting close to being done but still have Interior to do, wheels and tires and misc. things I want to do. I’ll share with you a couple of pictures and if there is interest in wanting to see how it got from then to now, I would love to share the adventure I’ve taken. Mind you, I’m a Chevy guy who has now got his feet wet in the MoPar field. I am truely in awe of some of the cars built and shared on this site. Thank you for your posts, as they are great for reference and motivation. Here are the pics. Let me know what you all think.

**im not techy so I hope I get these to work. Sorry if words are misspelled and such... I’m using a phone.

Cheers!
