I was asked about the W2 intake selection since it has recently cropped up in threads. I only have 2 intakes.
(Yea I know! WTF!)

In the recent threads, (various threads) the W2 head and intake selection came up. MoPar has the only dual plane W2 intake available. It is much like the OE dual plane but of course, with oval ports. It is my opinion, but not in my experience that intake would be great for unported W2’s since there reported to flow up to 260 cfm. What others have gotten on the W2 OOTB varies and I’m not gonna say nothin about it. I also don’t have a flow bench!

Regardless, the W2 dual plane intake manifold on W2 heads.
It should make for a killer high torque Street application. As I’m also SURE it did really well on the oval tracks.

How far the dual plane can effectively carry on modified W2’s, or, the reverse, how modified can a W2 go before a single plane is needed is a good question that also leeds to more questions of, what are you doing with it?!?!?!

On to the single plane!

As you can see the painted Mopar W2 is almost a dead copy of the Holley Street Dominator with under carb water heat passages. This game s MoPar’s “Street W2” as it has the water heat under the carb. The “Race W2’s” do not have this.
(And are crazy *** expensive!)

As you can see from the rear of the intakes they both have the water tap at the back. The MoPar has a pair of stiffening ribs at the rear.

The MoPar has a “Air Gap” separating the runners from the rest of the intake. Both intakes are the same height.

As I try to show, from above, and what might be easy to see from these pictures is that the Holley has a slightly smaller plenum (?) due to the clover entrance.
When they feel around (not very scientific!) they feel about the same in the plenum area.

The bottom 2 shots show the runners and how the Holley is a little bit more of a narrow runner. And I mean just a little bit. The center wall divider (runners 1 & 2) are shapes differently.

Under the intake shot.
We can see how heat may effect to a large degree the intake air and fuel charge.
Street driving, no worries.

If anybody has:

A dual plane W2
Holley Strip Dominator W2
Holley or MoPar tunnel ram

Or what ever else may be out there!

Please post up as many of the like above pictures you can for illustrating purposes.

IMO, Show Off Engine shots really need not apply.

Thanks for the lesson on intakes rumble.

Your welcome. There have been a few people asking questions about these intakes. Just trying to kill a few birds with one stone.

I don’t think I can answer a whole lot of tech on them. But then again! We do have some smart and talented people’s here!

What about a Victor W-2 or an Indy? I have both but large rec ports, but W-2 port spacing

I will post some Holley Pro Dominator Tunnel Ram pics early next week. I was just about to post Victor W2 but you guys beat me to it. Lol

from 2000 mopar catalog-W2 bolt pattern-dual plane : P5249193 = 2bbl carb cast iron rectangle ports, P5249194 = 4bbl carb cast iron rectangle ports, P5249572 = 4bbl carb aluminum oval ports

What about a Victor W-2 or an Indy? I have both but large rec ports, but W-2 port spacing
Then both would actually e for the W5 or Indy head since both are rectangle port heads.
The W5 has the same bolt spacing of the W2.

rumblefish , got one in the barn , i'll shot some pics . don't know what or which one it is . swaymeet find if i remember right . its been years since i shielded it . hav'nt found my w2 heads yet , still on the hunt .

Excellent!!!!

I had seen those in the old PAW catolog!
Hen’s tooth!

I bet that made for a monster machine. It also makes me wonder if Mopar had the stroker cranks for sale at that time.

I have an Indy intake I can possibly photograph tomorrow.
I have a W2 dual plane on its way. I should have it maybe next weekend
I modified a 6 pack intake for w2 heads. Sold it on here to somebody.

I love how Indy has not only that tall tall intake for a huge spaced effect, but, at the rear of the intake are 2 bosses to tap coolant.
