Flaming River FR1540 Steering Box

In what ways are these better than factory power steering gear box's? turning radius? more compact?

The flaming river box is a manual steering box, not power.

It’s lighter and smaller than a factory power steering box, but the flaming river box is actually heavier than an original Mopar manual steering box because of it’s steel case, the factory Mopar manual boxes have aluminum cases. So the flaming river box is several pounds heavier than a standard aluminum Mopar manual steering box.

The turning radius shouldn’t be any different regardless of which kind of steering it is, but obviously the steering effort will be because it’s manual steering. The steering effort of the 16:1 ratio manual box will also be higher than the standard Mopar 24:1 manual steering box.

And it should fit any A-body 62-76, the A/B and E body manual boxes all used the same size sector shafts.
