Stuck in Dickinson, nd

And I didn't say it was everyone. Sorry if it came out that way.

After going snowmobiling in - 26° F and losing my only set of keys to my 68 Barracuda when I was young, I learned to always carry two sets of keys at all times....

A soon as I get a car, I go get at least 4 - 5 sets of keys made... Two to keep on me, one spare key for the key drawer, and a master key...

Duplicate keys are much cheaper than having a car re-keyed... (cheap insurance...)

This Thread belongs on Facebook, not a car forum.

The topic and how difficult it is to read screams Facebook material.

Never been into an accident. Lol not worried about the car if something were to happen to it. 27 year old Honda lol paid the coat of the battery he just put in for the car. No real loss. I really doubt I'd hit anyone. I'm not into street racing anymore. And this car only has 90 HP.
But for the purpose of getting pulled over it would suffice

Never rely on the fact that you haven't been in an accident... It can happen at any time and may not be your fault...

I have been rear-ended at a stop light... Wasn't my fault, but it happened....

Especially today with everyone that can't keep their head out of their cell phones while driving makes it much more possible...

As my grandpa used to say: "Wake up and die right"...

So u really keep two sets in your pocket at once? Having a spare at the house I normally do.
You are absolutely right @krazykuda when I get home I do plan do Getting everything 100%. At the time of leaving I was behind on bills and in desperate need to get here. I know the car personally so I wasn't to concerned mechanically. Things do happen but sometimes you just have to roll with what you have to work with a n d hope for the best.

Yes, I always carry 2 sets of keys in my pocket that have the keys for the car that I'm driving and the house... Even if it is on the "big ring" with more than one car, I may make a set with only the keys for the car that I'm driving and the house to keep as spares (and not be so heavy in my pocket)...

You have to be disciplined to not use the back up set as your cushion and not look for the first set when you loose them - or you will go through keys like Kotex.... Try to find the main set when you loose them if possible, then use the back-up set if needed....

Lol @TrailBeast someone could easy put an lol or show they are joking or even say it's funny then talk mad **** and I know they are poking fun.
The missus was surprised I even lost em lol.
Usually it's I pose a tool go buy a new one then find the tool lost lol. Watch once this comes in the mail today I make a second key and I find the Lost ones. The reason I have 3 air Chucks and a couple gauge feelers. But that's mostly cause I get impatient and just want to finish what I'm doing g right then and there

Hey I came up from a dive and lost a boat, and I laughed about that too, so.:D
It's like I always tell my boys "It's all just one big adventure with a set of steps to take to solve it" whatever it is.

I work out of state often. I have a license, insurance, but I'm always in a company truck so no worries on the registration. I do sewer and storm infrastructure rehab usually have 3-6 people with me. We drink almost every night. A couple beers with dinner usually. Sometimes the beer goes down real smooth and we all end up getting trashed but none of us have lost keys, wallets, etc. I make sure the guys are at the hotel/house BEFORE getting drunk. And no drunk driving so that eliminates the need for any keys.

Well, I guess this is better than a buddy of mine.

He got so **** faced one time he handed the keys to a '57 Chevy to a stranger and never saw the car again.

He gave up drinking a day late.

I just read this, and wonder how a free of these people have so much anger in their life. I can take 10 days to transfer a title, and if I don't, I get a letter that gives me a year to do so. That's the law. The DL thing not being required federally I've heard before, but that's it. I've screwed up before and list my keys (in the car!) Glad I didn't say anything here, the support looks overwhelming!

I got the OP's message, he was just sharing his misfortune with us, not looking for approval. I'd have a beer for him, if I was drinking this year.

Hope those keys come soon, no fun talking your way out of that one!

Wow that is wild.
Well spare came in the mail. Checked the mail 14 time lol.
Gave up waiting and the mail carrier shows up

By federal law you are actually legally able to drive a car without a license.

I believe licensing and insurance are administered by each state. I’m not sure there are Federal laws governing cars, drivers licenses or insurance.

NO LICENSE , THE INS. COMPANY CAN AND WILL MORE THAN LIKELY " not" PAY OFF, IT`S THEIR WAY OUT! i THOT THE GUY WAS DRUNK WHEN HE FIRST WROTE THE POST !.---LOL

True story, bought an old car off my cousin for my youngest kid to learn to drive on.
He gave me one key to it, first thing I did was get another key made.
The next time I seen him he dropped about a dozen keys in the glove-box of my truck, is said WTF?
He said they were keys to the car I bought, his wife had a bad habit of loosing keys, and then finding them.

.....surreal, is he having a drink now and rolling on the floor in hysterics at our responses whilst surrounded by his bros....on a lighter side I have real issue, while on vacation out of state I decided to cook some crack in the van and.......

I`ve owned my cuda for 21 years, still haven`t had a spare key made for it yet.
This thread will remind me...

Hmmm, I was supposed to remember something. I forget what it was now:D

there are 3 things that show ur getting old--------the first is losing ur memory,-----but I cant remember what the other two were !

Sorry I haven't replied back in a while. My buddy that I bought the car from found his duplicate keys and sent them to me. Since then I've been really busy and going thru personal issues in my relationship.
I have since got the title transferred to me and the car is now plated and insured. After about 1000$ also I got left to do is take a behind the wheel test and I'll have my license back. See I do try and get things legal. I just can't always do things I want to lol. Now I'm looking for a cheap d16y8 full swap I can just drop in as this lil car like to over heat when the heater is off lol plus it leaks like he'll and I'm sure it smokes a lil as well. I did get some new tires on it as the old ones were dry rotted like hell.

Lmao you got me rolling on that one. I might have a single beer ascend wait a while before driving but nothing more for me. There was a time tho lol until I got a dui for having a beer a shot ascend a single sip basically from my lady's mixed drink. Blew a .113. .08 is legal limit. .04 is it's having one beer or shot. Won't chance it now tho. My birthday just past even and I only had a shot lol. Didnt even need to drive. As I had a dd. Still I don't drink or smoke like I used to. Mellowing out I guess.

It definitely takes courage and confidence to admit a mistake and then make a change. You’re a brave man!
