So! Someone mentioned other wide spaced attaching hardware point intake manifolds. Well, the W5 is the next step ma MoPar took with making the next head out of aluminum! And so are the intakes of course.

Below are 2 different M1 single plane intakes for the small block.
Can you tell which one is the LA intake?

Don’t enlarge the picture now!

Be careful of which one you purchase.

Here is a shot showing the off set bolt holes between the La & the W5.
Also seen is a magic marker line around the port as to what can be removed from the intake as a Fel-Pro was laid on it.

While not a major mod to make, it is something that will take a little time to do well. It has been said to first weld, then drill. As the proper way.

A side by side W5 large runner on the left and the small runner on the right.

A few “Around the intake” of the large runner below.

W5 small runner. Just like the M1 single plane for standard heads.

Ma MoPar also made a dualquad tunnel ram. While I don’t have one for the W5 to photograph, I do have a LA head version that is otherwise, identical AFAIK. So,here it is.

(Drop LeAnna, the Cudachick68, a line for this powder coated beauty in the color called Alien Silver!)

I hope to use this thing soon. So many delays!!!
What else is new!!!????!!!!
LMAO!!!!

OK! If ya got some rectangular wide space bolt intakes, post them up!!!
Leave a few words behind about it. Give me and all of us lots of angles!

Man ! you have some trick parts, I hope you can put them to use very, very shortly.
Thanx for sharing

Thanks. Saving for retirement.
I don’t want to be board ya know!
Maybe I’ll take a writing class and go to a magazine! LMAO!!!! Yeaaaa right!

How close are the ports in the tunnel ram w5 vs the la?
I have been half heartedly looking for a w2/5 tunnel ram intake and debated the drilling and modding

Ummmmm, Well, the ports are the same size and location but the bolt holes are wider. For the W5 & LA on these intakes.
And the W2 is oval vs. the rectangular W5.

Did that answer your question???
I’m not sure I did or completely understand.

Somewhat answered.
Was curious if I could take an LA tunnel ram and mod it for w5 usage.
I did that for a six pack intake a couple years back

Yes, that is also my plan for my tunnel ram. The W5 tunnel ram is impossible to find. Not so much with the LA tunnel ram by comparison.

(Poster coat after making the mod. The LA T-ram has the bolt holes to close to the runners!!!)

Wish i stayed with smallblock.....BUT still think LA and MAGNUM HD blocks are a thing of the past...

I agree rrvolare, a move to the current HEMI is a better move n some ways. The current small block HEMI has every advantage over the older engines. There born with it. Or mildly modified for it.

The draw back is the cost of starting from scratch and making things work over already have not an LA set up. LA and Magnum blocks are everywhere. (Well, pretty much everywhere!)

The W series heads are really good platforms to go on. And for the longest time, the only real game in town. The W2 & W5 heads are the only W series head that the little guy can get into and use rather cheaply but still yet effectively. With the recent set of heads released, the Victor and Trick Flows offering, the W2-5 heads fall into the in between area of those heads and the basic head replacement heads like Edelbrocks Performer head.

If you can find a set of W2-5’s floating about, there sometimes unique parts can be the deciding factor in building them. But the heads themselves are currently of reasonable prices. The W5’s can be found cheaper than the W2’s often enough.

The W5 intake manifolds pictures above for use on standard heads only need bolt hole modifications or visa versus for regular intakes to be modified for W5 use.

So it still may be a decent idea to build a W headed engine....
The heads can flow very well!

unfortunately, TTI stopped production of w5 headers. I have a w5 M1 dominator intake.

W5 with direct port Nitrous plumbed. Cleaned up runners.

The only thing wrong with those intakes is that HUGE plenum. I spent so many hours screwing with it, it was stupid. I eventually bought 4 of them. It was a ***** to get the top seperate. A few well placed cuss words and I got them.

Hours and hours and hours and hours screwing with them. I should have kept all that crap.

Mine was the W-5 but IIRC the tops are all the same. Even for the big block stuff. Too big for anything.

You mean the tunnel ram? Not the pictured M1’s in the quoted post.
The only thing I can think of, about the tunnel ram is it would, IMO probably be best served if it was on top of a large CID stroker with some mad house go fats parts.

I do certainly remember an episode of “Pinks All Out” drag racing series where a certain W5 manual trans Duster running THAT tunnel ram won the shoot out, running low 9’s.

Yeah, I meant the TR you posted. Same top as the W-5.

I was looking for a w2 blower manifold and got this from a member in Canada. I have not laid it on the motor yet to see how things line up. If it bolts on I’m going to use it till something else comes along or until I get some 360-1 heads. Looks like it started out as rectangular port, ......did Holley make a W2 strip Dominator rectangular port manifold ???
