FABO:mob:,

Anyone out there got a spare 4v carb for a 1965 - 273?

Engine started life as a 2v, but that's no fun so I got some domed (not doomed, I hope) pistons and a 4v intake and will be going with Isky Cam and 901 springs.

I don't want to "over carb" it, any recommendations? I guess I would prefer an inexpensive old one that I can rebuild, all the new one's seem too big...

Thanks in advance, you guys are the best? I'll be here eagerly awaiting your replies.

A 600 Edelbrock with a electric choke works well. You do have to enlarge the secondary holes in the intake for clearance on a stock intake. You may find a original carb but finding one in rebuild-able condition is a tough deal.

@65Cudafix I’ve got a fresh Holley 600, ready to run 140$ shipped. PM me if interested. This came off my commando.

Just my opinion, the 570 is better on the 273 then the 600. Better low end response. Do your own research..

How about a Carter 9635SA 625 competition series w/electric choke? Dusty, no rust on butterflys. Just clean it and check pump. Needs 2 vacuum plugs. $70

The OEM Carter afb had smaller than typical air horn diameter so majority of aftermarket air cleaners don't fit. Unless you're trying to clone a commando, aftermarket intake, carb, and air cleaner is the more practical/affordable route. I have a complete 67 Commando package here, all the way to the fender badges. I have about a grand invested too.
