I've been trying to sell my GMC Canyon pickup truck for the last week and I keep getting tons of calls from people who want to sell it for me. WTF?

Best one yet has been a lease to own offer from a guy. Asking me to keep my insurance on it as well. Uhh NO!

Why do people make it so hard?

Because no one shows up at their door with a badge telling them to knock it the F off, that's why.
You might think my interpretation is a bit extreme until you remember spam and scams are actually illegal but we have gotten so far away from it being anything any institutions will actually do anything about it's ridiculous.

Yes they are out there !!!

I have had one where they offer to pay by "certified check". And as soon as the check is deposited ( bank takes a few days to actually clear the check) they want you to ship the goods AFTER you pay the freight company of their choosing with the additional amounts they include with the certified check.

There is no sale, there is no freight company, you send money to their fraudulent method of payment and the bank deducts the money from your account when the " certified check" turns out to be bogus. Seller beware.

I waste their time as much as possible. Then tell them to **** OFF at the last minute.

After selling a Honda on Craigslist, I now know why people take their cars straight to the wrecking yard. Too much BS to deal with!

Sorry, but I can’t help you. I didn’t call back in time and now the IRS has a warrant issued for my arrest. Don’t tell anyone that you know where I am. They may want to chase you too!

Let’s suppose you’d take $30k for your truck. I have a cheque here for $45k. For your troubles, you can cash it and keep an additional $5k. Can you then wire the $10k balance to me?

That one is almost as old as the Nigerian inheritance scam!

I was looking for a Honda CRV for my daughter that has cancer. So I find a nice one on Craigslist and I send an e-mail because there is no phone number. A couple of hours later I get a response telling me that the car is in Omaha Nebraska but the shipping has been paid for and I have six days to inspect the vehicle before having to pay for it and if there is a problem the shipper will pick it up and there is no problem with it being returned. So I say I’ll take it if you send me a picture of the VIN and the title and I have someone living in the area to come and take a look and test drive the vehicle. So not response to the email but I get a notice from eBay asking me to pay for the vehicle and that there buyer protection policy will protect me from any fraud or misrepresentation of the vehicle. The only problem with that is if the vehicle is not being sold through eBay they don’t cover didley or squat and you are assed out of your money. I had a customer scammed like this on an SRT 10 pickup and he lost 22000.00 dollars on the deal. Anyway what this person didn’t know was my older daughter lives in Omaha and works for the FBI so I had texted her asking if see was in town and could go look at the vehicle for me. Need less to say I got no more texts for the seller and the FBI was interested in the sale as well. It turns out the same vehicle was for sale in several other listings on Craigslist in VA and DC. All is well two day later I found a real nice Acura RDX which my daughter got and love and there was no BS about the deal. This is the problem with people today no one wants to do an the right thing they just want to steal and cheat for everything they have and if your not careful you lose and nothing will happen to the bad guy

It's because as difficult as it is for honest people to understand, there are some people in the world who want nothing more than to steal from others.

The problem is, you are part of the problem. EVERY TIME you email a scammer, the robot software churns and clicks and counts another one up. We as a country should be demanding more out of the overpriced Verizon telefail system. We should be able to trace and block this crap in texts, email, and phone calls.

If you're running an ad on Craigslist you have to word it specifically stating things like "cash only, no trades, no offers to sell for me, phone calls only, no texts or emails will be responded to, local buyers only etc". Or get serious, and fork over the money and put it on AutoTrader. You'll get real buyers, or at the worst real tire kickers!

My problem isn't just the scammers (oh yeah get those even love the ones that their auto text program grabs the wrong heading, or you know it's a scam and say it is sold and they say good and start the "I'll send a MO....") it is the people that have nothing to do and / or no money. Texting asking questions and for more pictures and finally saying they have no money or offering you 1/3 of the advertised price or I'll trade my Xbox, I'm all for negotiation but be reasonable you do it in person with cash.

My last ad ,visa ,mastercard, debit or cash. All others need not apply.
Every time i list something i get some tiddlywink lowballer too.
Funny,as i always pay if its a fair price when i buy.
Obo’s or please contact are negotiable.

Guy put up some wheels as must sell. Old tires and missing caps. I made an offer of 300.nope.wants 5. Keep em.
Found 5 for 130.
I still think finding the good stuff is woth it.
