Im going to be drag racing a 69 Dart on street tire's and want some ideas to improve my 60 ft times.I plan on drag shocks, poly bushings in the leaf springs,I assume same for trans & engine mounts, adjustable pinion snubber, engine strap, recurve Distributor.Question is what else can I do to improve 60ft & 1/4 times?

What drag shocks and why a pinion snubber?

I'm here to see what you guys have to say,as far as drag shocks-you tell me IDK,pinion snubber because I don't want axle wrap up-yes/no? Power? Should be in the 450-500hp range

Not knowing more about combo, gear conv etc but someting like a 90-10 front shock to help get the weight transfered

Genuine street tires or DOT drag rubber? What gears, converter? Do you have a time you are looking to hit? A lot of variables involved.

Minimum double adjustable shock all 4 corners. Anything else is a waste of money.

Caltrac, slide a link or asassin bars if you are on leaf springs.

with 450-500 hp with street tires....your launching technique is going to determine your 60 ft times...you are going to have to walk to car off the starting line....

450-500hp + "street tires" = DISASTER
At the very least she'll need very high performance street tires or the car will be dangerous. A body Mopar speaking of course. But on the upside with street tires or what I consider street tires you won't need any of that expensive Performance Suspension stuff because your tires will be spinning long before any spring wrap or pinion snubber or anything like that comes into play. You need traction from your tires to worry about drag shocks and pinion snubbers.

I've got another 2 weeks before my engine builder can get my stuff in.

Ok,but the guys in FAST run in the 10's on polyglas street tire's

6 cylinder torsion bars, raise the front
remove front swaybar
QA1 adjustable shocks front and rear
clamp the springs in the front, caltracs
Nitto drag radials 60ft 1.8s ( i made 30 drag passes and 4000 mls on the street!!)
matching drivetrain to the engine power
and much more ;-) buy the Mopar chassis book

I would talk to "the guys in FAST"? Not a bunch of Internet poser wannabes...

So what? They do it because it's the RULE, not the best option. There are guys on this forum who run into the 7's on 10 inch tires. The 60 foot times are slow compared to the 1/4 time and MPH. Those FAST cars would be much quicker if they didn't have to run that tire.

And the class is already shot to hell, because the big money moved in, exploited the rule book and ran the costs up. That's what racing is. Legislating stupid tire rules to control "costs" is just as stupid as 2 bbl rules, exhaust manifold rules and all those other idiotic rules.

Go work on your car!!!!

I would t run any sort of “street” tire with that sort of power. As others have mentioned, I’d do some Nitto’s or something that has some grip to it. Real street tires are asking for trouble. I tried them once on the street and it scared the piss outta me! I will never put another set of street tires on unless they are some sort of drag radial type of compound.

No pinion snubber. They tend to bounce the tire. Also the front spring section on an a body is so short they don’t tend to wrap up. Unless you have a high horsepower car and a very sticky tire. Good double adjustable shocks. I run f70 14 redlines. With stupid kyb shocks and no other tricks and have a best 60’ of 1.71. My car WILL kill me on th street! Its like jekyl and hyde! I have removed the rear spring clamps so it will fan out on launch.

I also run 4.10 gear, easier to control the tire. Once you get a tire with say a 3.73 gear spinning it’s much harder to get it to stop due to the higher wheel speed.

The guys that run f.a.s.t. have cars that are very scienced out, not your everyday hot street car.

I'd start with front shocks and the biggest mt et street radial that would fit.

You haven't mentioned what gear or converter you have.
