Annoyed with Dantes

I orderedy door panels off Danes website last Thursday because of recommendation's here that he sells legendary products, and on his website it states they are legendary. So instead of around 400 for pui, I pay 510 through dante for legendary. So I get an email today from them, asking if I have a preference of manufacturers, as they have pui and legendary, that it'll be 8 weeks to get anything from legendary, but they have pui in stock. He didn't say a single thing about the price difference, or any type of refund. I am NOT impressed, I told him that I only ordered through him because he advertised that he had legendary, and to just go ahead and refund my money if he couldn't provide what he advertised.
Anyone else had problems?
 
So, he offers you a cheaper option if you are in a rush & you complain?

Dante is a stand up guy & he knows Legendary products are better.

I would wait for the Legendary products myself.
 
We'll see, he didn't say anything about a different price, from his email it seemed like he wanted to sell the pui for the same price as I paid for the legendary
 
You want legendary, wait until their yearly one time sale around t’giving.
 
i've never had any issues with dante...

you could have asked him if there was a price difference... or you could just wait 8 weeks for the legendary stuff.

But if you want Legendary only, then buy direct in November. Best prices at that time usually.
 
If I was running a business, and someone bought a product that I didn't have, I would contact them saying that I don't have the product from the manufacturer that I had advertised, but I do have a product from another manufacturer at a lower price, or you can wait 8 weeks until the product that you paid for is available. I would DEFINITELY mention the difference in price and possible quality, not failing to mention the difference in price or quality
Why do I feel like a bad guy for being annoyed at the way this person handles this situation?
 
If you wanted a clarification, the right thing would have been to ask him for one.

I have bought from Dante for years, great guy, awesome service.

maybe its common for people to be stuck on a manufacture and he wanted to see if you were stuck on legendary or would you consider another brand before getting all into that.. maybe he just forgot to say anything in the email.. it is a sunday and i'm sure he has life going on.. you should feel good that he got a hold of you at all over the weekend...
 
I got plenty from Dante’s and all was good and as expected.

When searching for the headliner for the fastback neither Dante’s or Legendary showed the correct pattern and color I needed in the brochures, I ordered from Pro-Fit and got a very nice correct piece in a legendary box for much cheaper, Go figure.

Really, it would have eliminated the stress if Legendary could produce faster...after all you do pay more. Who wants to wait 8 weeks.

I wait for Legendary....don't like it. I've learned that there is rarely inventory for anything I want, so I order early
 
I think coolhandluke is correct in his complaint but if he wants legendary he will just have to wait. Maybe the Dante’s salesman was new or something but the lower price on the pui product should have come out first.
 
It sounds like a miscommunication to me. Maybe he didn't say it the way you would have liked, but it sounds like he just said, "Hey, I don't have any Legendary now. Do you have a brand preference? Because I do carry PUI also." If there was a question in your mind; ask. I seriously doubt he was suggesting he'd offer you PUI for Legendary prices. And by the way, wait for the Legendary. Mine is over 20 years old and still looks great.
 
First world problem. You're not in a foreign country starving to death or being shot at. Get over it and move on.
 
I had the exact opposite experience dealing with Dante's. I found Legendary pieces cheaper than they were selling them for and they price matched it. I'd pay a little more and wait for the Legendary stuff.

well thats not dante's fault.. call legendary and complain then.. or call around to other places and see if they have them in stock.. maybe year one?

when we were buying the darts seat cover dante didn't have them in stock and told me it would be weeks to get them. dante is local to me and i've bought a ton of **** from him over the years with no issue but i didn't want to wait unless i really had to.. called year one and they had it in stock.. got a good price and had the covers in a few days...
 
Sheesh...a simple e-mail is causing all this hostility. Life is to short to get worked up over a lead time.

The e-mail that was sent to Luke I quote.
"Hi Luke, We left you a voicemail in regards to the interior
panels.We didn't know if you had preference in manufacturers as
we carry both the Legendary and PUI interior panels.We have the PUI in stock and Legendary would take about
8 weeks to be made. Please let us know which one you prefer so we can
process your order."

It was just a courtesy e-mail giving you another option if you didn't want to wait.
 
well there ya go. sounds like a totally different situation with all the facts now.... classic case of over reaction...

As is usually the case, everyone always tells only their side, or their version.
 
Dante was super for me. I got legendary right from legendary, I would say if you are picky, wait it out. Their stuff is really nice.
 
I have bought plenty of stuff from Dante over the years. In fact, I think every time I have called him, he actually answered the phone. I feel pretty confident you could have a good conversation with him to clear up any confusion.

I take back my prior comment. It wasn't a miscommunication. How in the world could someone possibly take that Email the wrong way. Plus the courteous thing to do would have been to contact Dante before trying to smear his name on the forum.
