Switched out the open carrier for a sure grip yesterday. Now on to fixing a few rust issues, the other side of the roof is the same condition.

I am in the process of removing the Bumble Bee strip on the Dart. I tried using the decal removing disc they advertise for this job, as you can see from the top of the fender, not liking it. I decided to use the hot gun and a dulled putty knife liking the results much better.

Took the cover off and started it after a long Winter. Cleaned it, clay bar treatment, ultimate polish all over and a good coat of pollimer wax. A lot of work all by hand but well worth it.

Installing my new PST 1.03” torsion bars. Pulling off my upper control arms. New QA1 tubular upper arms will be here Friday. Hopefully get them installed over the weekend. Then alignment time. Bought a caster/camber gauge. Going to try to set it up myself.

Torsion bars are in, the control arms showed up a day early but only about a half hour before I needed to leave for work. I did manage to do a quick test fit on one of them.
They look like pretty nice quality to me, and fit nice and snug between the mounts.

Rebuilt my holley red pump.
Installed new fuel pressure gauge.
Replaced the rusted stock muffler on my old 5.9 1500 with a round dynomax ultra flo.

Rebuilding my lifters from my 383 that only have 300 miles on them! They’re were broke in correctly but are bleeding down over night. When I bought the car the motor was a fresh rebuild. Tore them down and found rust on the metering plate.

I called Lunati and they said the EPA now makes the manufacturers use a water based lubricant instead of mineral oil like they used to test them during production. So his suggestion...buy new ones take them apart and clean them before installing them!

Made some bumper plates to attach a tow bar, just got the lengthened and beefed up (thicker tubing) driveshaft back from the shop and installed, oogling the 255/60-15 M/T ET Street SS tires I got a few day ago and waiting on some 15x8 Wheel Vintiques steel rims to arrive, supposed to be here Monday. Then paint em white, mount the tires, and this 410 Stroker A100 will just about be ready to hit the strip.:steering:

Gave the Duster it's first taste of 94 today. Fire up day is getting close.

94 is selling up here for $1.55 a litre - That's about $4.55/gal US. Oh well, gonna have to get used to that! Much like getting married and having kids, I didn't swap in the 408 to save money.

Just noticed - MY 500th post on FABO. Should be worth a lapel pin or something, no??

Finished 'restomodding' the engine bay wiring. After overcoming major sphincter-lock over the HEI modifications, I got those done thanks to the teachings of FABO and the guidance and great diagrams from @TrailBeast. Also in the pictures you will notice the quality of @crackedback 's headlight relay kit. Once I prime the oil system, I'll hook a battery to it all and........................

First, one of my favorite "before" pictures. The PO had sprayed the firewall and a bunch of the wiring with undercoating (?):

Repair the rust around the lower right rear window of my 69 Dart.

This is what it looks like after cutting out the metal and folding it around the corners into the window groove. I welded a big square around the corner where I cut it out. I am new to this metal replacement so a friend of mine is teaching me. I still have some small pieces to replace down inside but after I treat it well it should be fine I think. I have filled 2 of the screw holes for the retainer clips. I hope that is not too specific.

This is what it looked like before I began.

I'm pretty proud of it. Start on the other side tomorrow.

What you think?

After some bitchin and fighting the drivers side bar, I put in some P-S-T 1.03 torsion bars, awesome people and company, I will buy my bilstien shocks from them when the money comes in.

Sandblasted the sail panels, now using a metal reinforced body filler to fill in the valley where the sail panel and fender are attached. This is my third application of the filler, building up my work in thin layers rather then glob it on. The filler has the consistency of JB weld when dried, hard to sand, but very tough.

Have a section of my exhaust off the car. The section from the headers through the x-pipe and to the mufflers. Welding up all the seams that I had just previously tacked together while on the car.

And then spending a ton of time, grinding on my crappy welds to make them look better....lol

Update: The car is much quieter now. Love it

Finished the 273 & readied it for pickup. Put a 383 on the running stand to fire this week.. Then back on the Falcon.

Trying to stop a bad transmission leak on the Dart. After adjusting bands and putting new filter in I stripped the threads in the trans that holds the cable shifter in. Hard to get to so will have to remove exhaust ( Slant ) to get more access.

Lots of little crap. Adjusting throttle return springs (lokar system). Its not quite closing all the way when letting off the gas. The lokar springs have almost no tension on them with in the idle position. I'll either shorten the lokar springs a little, or just add a more traditional return spring from the front to the carb.
Got my alignment pretty close using my new Joe's racing caster/camber gauge. But having a hard time getting the toe-in correct, using the string method. Just ordered as set of toe plates from summit, should be here Friday.

Boiled my Thermostat and egged out the holes on my new billet Water Neck (ever so slightly) before bolting it in place. Then hung my Purple Hornies - not overly crazy about the purple paint job, but these are only intended as Cop Repellent until I finish the shake-down cruising and get to the Muffler Shop. Starting to look at the 24th as Fire-up day!
