High compression blues.

More frightening is .010" piston to head, I can't believe their not clipping that tight if indeed they are there. That's gotta be, burn rate should be fast as lightning tho'!!

I currently successfully run .039 less .005=.034 +/- .0015 in my 367,on the street.
I think I mighta run .028 less .005 very briefly. in 1999/2000 with the 292/508 cam. That wouldabin .023 +/- .0015. That gasket couldn't take it tho. There were no contact witness marks at teardown, but I wasn't all that comfortable running a minimum of .0215.
>In this case, I wonder if it wouldn't be prudent to pull a head and do some measuring........

or just retard the cam a bunch and hope for the best, lol.
At 12.45 Scr, retarding the cam to 111 for an ICA of 77, might drop the pressure to 180,( and simultaneously lower the VP to 164, if that matters).
At 12.8 Scr, retarding the same might drop the pressure to 187
>But what gas will those Scrs require, at WOT?

And, I am happy to report that I have finally gotten rid of the ping!!
Not sure which it is yet, but it's either a distributor or a revnator ignition box. Or combo of both? Havent had time to experiment but I changed the box for a ten dollar auto zone ecu and put my old firecore distributor back in and set at 16 initial and it is no longer pinging.
I'll be sure and follow up once I have time to play process of elimination and let you guys know what it was.
Myself, and several of my more experienced engine tuning friends have played with the timing forever, so I'm thinking something malfunctioned or wore out with one of those two parts.
At any rate, I'm happy the thing is running properly again.
Also, found a mopar .557 solid lifter cam the other day. I'm hoping this takes my pile into the 11's!
Thanks for all the help guys. I'll keep you posted. Been working a ton but I'll try and experiment with it this weekend.

The replacement ignition box retards timing at high RPM. Same as the Mopar Orange box. That's why you don't ping now.

That whole sentence was an oxymoron and you want me to do what?

Cram it up your butt?

I've stopped drinkin for the time bein. It's an expense I can do without, plus I need to loose some weight. Is that ok?

Sorry my butt is full literally had a butt check yesterday! Now you want to compare bad stories?
Had to change it so you can understand...

And thanks Rusty, I did read that the cheap box would retard the timing at high rpm but the disparity between the two was pretty severe. I couldn't get the revnator to not ping at high rpm with experimenting with the timing all over the place.
AND, I haven't drank in 6.5 years and have to get my first colonoscopy next month when I turn 50! :usflag:

I turned 51 last month! I held out to the end of 50! And I have 10 years!

Maybe with a high RPM retard would be a good time to add some nitrous!
