A little hundred shot would get you right there no problem and no getting into the motor at the push of a button.I think the .557 cam will get me pretty close to my 11.50 goal.....

Isn't that why you retard the timing for nitrous? And probably blow a head gasket. He is very close to detonation......he WAS detonating before. Nitrous adds a tremendous amount of cylinder pressure. Chances are, it would detonate big time with nitrous. Even a small amount.

Now that he's got this timing issue fix he could be nowhere near detonation? He hasn't given back any feedback from that.Well sure, but from the sound of it, his timing would need retarding to the point that it would remove what power the nitrous added.
He's on the ragged edge now. He'll probably still detonate in the summer during heat soak.
Nitrous engines "should" be specifically built for nitrous. Wider LAS and generally lower compression than what he has.

So you feel that you went from detonation to just on the brink of detonation or it's completely off the table now?Now that I've got the point of detonation figured out, it seems like the .557 cam would better utilize all that cylinder pressure, don't you think, Rusty? It's not too much smaller than the solid cam that was recommended by Tim at Bullet.

I would think it would like more initial than that. I guess the real question is what is it at all in?It's still fairly close, Jpar. I did advance the timing a litttle when driving it the other day and I could get it to ping. A much lighter ping, granted but it's close. It likes it at 16 initial. Runs hard.
Should have mentioned that earlier.
That's what I'm talking about, to the Moon baby!Put a pro shot fogger on the thing. Happy trails.

It doesn't rain there!?As soon as it stops raining, I'll let you know.
It most certainly does. And all of Los Angeles forgets how to drive.......It doesn't rain there!?
I turned 51 last month! I held out to the end of 50! And I have 10 years!
LOL!!!The mystery was why he was even pinging in the first place. Aluminum heads 11 to 1 he should be fine.
The 10.1:1 slugs are down in the hole .048"..........I get your math.....
And that would bring the pressure to at least 190/197 with the cam in at 104*,as calculated by the Wallace.
And if the Wallace is correct,
at 12.80Scr it predicts .065pop-up,compared to your .048
at 12.45Scr it predicts .056 pop-up
at 12.10Scr it predicts .045
so you may be on to something; that's Killer work, right there
You dare LOL me! LOL What the hell?LOL!!!
It's what everyone is saying, but yet there it is, pinging. Except for a couple,.....I've never been stuck with 91 octane max, so I can't speak as to it's ultimate abilities. IYou dare LOL me! LOL What the hell?
Honestly I read that twice and don't have a clue of what you're talking about?!It's what everyone is saying, but yet there it is, pinging. Except for a couple,.....I've never been stuck with 91 octane max, so I can't speak as to it's ultimate abilities. I
posted some numbers and looked for someone to point out where it'd be wrong, I'll have to do it Myself I guess, did some digging back into the Mopar std. racing manual.
The only ??? I've asked that hosehead hasn't answered probably won't be unless He yanks a head off. It sounds like He's not going to get an answer from the machinist.
What is the exact piston to deck height on this thing? If the piston is only .030" taller than the 10.1:1 slugs He's going to be close to .060" for a quench/squish distance.
Not good. If it's what I posted, well, that explains itself. But the comp. dist. listed by NAPA & F-M in the catalogs has what I perceive to be a discrepancy, so that's the main
issue with the numbers. Now back to "he should be fine"!!
