Why A Mopar ??

-
I think every manufacturer has examples of outstanding cars from each era. I have my favorite Chevy, Ford and Chrysler’s.

But Mopars, for me, just have the most models I like. And I like that they are the “underdogs” and a bit different.

Then again, the very first word I spoke (according to my parents lol ) was “car”. And this is what the family had at the time. I remember that car well ... and that my dad traded it on for a 75 Datsun B210. Rofl.

I started on Chevrolet had a lot of SS Nova's sb & bb L78's got tired of setting valve lash & and unless you have original paperwork they are easy to fake, vin's are no different from a 307ci to a 396ci.Then I came across a 70 Challenger R/T 440-6 4spd #'s barnfind did a drivetrain resto and purestock raced it for 4 years and I was hooked I rarely lost a race.I sold it (dumbass) and have been into A body 340's ever since which are unbeatable by any other stock small block except an LT 1.Im currently restoring another P code 69 Swinger to run in Pure Stock that even the LT 1's won't touch. And when you go to any car show count how many Chevy's you see compared to Mopars.

Because when I was five on a family vacation, my Dad rented a '65 Valiant from Avis, based on that he bought our only new car, a '66 Valiant 200 that my Mom drove for 30 years. So when I needed my own transportation in the '80's I already knew that Mopars held up better, past 100k miles, than GM or Ford, I didn't have a lot of money to spend and I could find a Fury in good condition for $600-$800 in the local newspaper.

Also... Because I want you to know when it's me driving down the street.. "I never get the I thought I seen you" I get the "I saw you out cruising"..... :) Never a dull moment !!!

Growing up in the 60's dad always had Mopars. Mostly wagons or 4 doors for the family. In 1970 I was 10 and went to the local Dodge dealer with my older brother to pick up his new Challenger 440, pistol grip. I can picture the showroom to this day. The bright colored posters and signs. It was overload to my 10 year old mind! I loved that purple car, the sound it would make when he opened it up going out of town mixed with my laughing. He would let me sit on the counsel and shift the pistol grip. I never turned down a ride!

Ever since I was 6 years old in a phone booth with my Mom and saw a '68 Road Runner with a 440 4 speed leave a gas station sideways smoking the N50-15's and banging gears. It was all over the road and I just had to have one someday. Did not get my Road Runner yet, but did do the 440 thing since 1989.

I got into mopars because back then we seemed to get the most out of a cam, Holley, and a set of headers compared to the other stuff at the time. They hauled the mail and held up well.

I learned to drive on them.
If I would have bought anything but one, I would have been taken to the wood shed, until I changed my ways.
All my family droves them.

When I look at this, there is no question of why anymore...

This car brings back a flood of memories for me. It was 1970, I was 19 driving a '65 Signet convertible. A car dealership on car row in Minneapolis - Lake Street - had a car identical to this for sale. $3200 was the asking price - however it was a 383 GTS. My insurance guy sad "no way" I could afford the insurance being a big block car and me being 19. The ONLY car in my life I still regret letting get away.

My dad always had Mopars and later on in life a close friend was really into Darts and he got me started. Besides you know what they say.
Buy a Chevy, Buy the best, drive a mile and walk the rest LOL

I can understand that!

My car is a near twin to the one I put together over 30 years ago. That one was a Dart GT with a 340 and I always said if I found another one, I would buy it. When I found this GTS 3 years ago, I had to make it mine. Of course, I had to do a bunch of work to it to make it right...but that was half the fun!

My Pops was a Ford man and did not really approve of my first buy, but he helped me with, a 69 RR 383. After some polishing and some elbow grease he was astonished. Lost that one in a T-bone accident in fairly short order. Did not give up and got a 69 BEE shortly after and he and the rest the family joined in. Lost that one to bad fire. Got the 69383s Barracuda shortly after and still have. It help turn most the family into Mopar, proud to say today all but 1 of 7 now drive Mopar cars.

Nice find twice. I'm still drooling...................................

I didn't want another GM to fall into the crowd! mopar or no car!

I was raised on Fords. My first car was. 65 mustang I bought when I was 18. I am 53 now and I still have the mustang. My buddy had a demon with a hot 340 with a four speed that he let me drive. I was impressed by the power and Year’s later I ran a cross a 67 Barracuda fastback that I just had to have that led to 3 other mopars (69 Charger, 69 road runner, and 74 road runner). None of them are restored but it’s my goal to fix em up or pass them on to my kids! They are cool!

Because I grew up watching an orange dodge jump the creek at Possum Holler.

i just had a lady tell me that "i love your car, im a huge Dukes of Hazzards fan"
i didnt have the heart to tell her i had a duster and not a charger...but at least it is EV2
