picked up a set of jaz aluminum seats and new covers from a guy, one seat has the slide mounts for a good deal. Tried to do a search but not much came up. Has anyone used them and does anyone have how they mounted them up in their car?

Ive got a 70 swinger that I’m adding them to and also a 10 point cage.

I'd like to see some pictures of the seats and the bottom of them and how they would attach to the bracket? Are they generic baket attachment or are they special? Pictures are worth a thousand words for some help also.
If you can fabricated and weld a 10 point, then these seat brackets ought to be a cakewalk.
Edit: wait a minute, was I supposed to look up those seats for you or for me I mean or for you? Copy and paste and post a picture please.
 
After a lot of google searching found a few pics of what I think I’m gonna do. A lot of pics for kirkey seats not much for jaz.

It's too bad the floor hump is going through the middle or you can just run a straight edge from one side to the other and bring up the inside side of the bucket seat. As it is it's just matching the outside Mount which is raised to catch both ends of a bench seat and making that the same on the inside. When I made my bucket seat brackets out of some old van seat brackets I had to shim the inside of both the passenger and driver side. And I think the front I had to shim more than the back. But ideally like in your pictures if you get the floor leveled out or a bracket on the floor then it's just even from side to side and you can mount it straight down.
 
What about a pedestal? The bottom (with larger plate) is welded to floor ... like plate for roll cage bar. Structure is thick plating.

Just an idea / alternative.

I think it would end up too wobbly. I don't think there would be enough support out-ways unless you really Welded on a lot of Steel around there which of course would be counterproductive to any kind of weight savings.
I guess what I'm saying is you don't want to add so much structure in there that you could have just got some stock seats that would have been lighter LOL
 
Also what are you using for the dino Matt? Actual Dynamat or something you got from the Home Improvement store?

It’s not wobbly at all. I didn’t weight it. I’m sure you could shave some weight off, but it’s easy to get seat in and out. We were down to the last hour and Didnt have the time during the build to get more fancy. And it ain’t going anywhere. All different kinds of ways to shave the cat. Lol

I can’t remember if it’s actually Dynamat. I got it off a supplier from Amazon. Had top ratings for car application and was relatively inexpensive. Now that we have pipes running back it should be of use.
 
Also found this as an option. I have some ideas now, now time for a trip to the steel shop and see what I can come up with in the scrap pile. They usually have some dom tubing for pennies on the lb.

I like that set up too. Keep us updated. Always cool to see good ideas !
 
Oh. I just noticed something. I’d have to look back up the NHRA rule, but my memory says that the back of the seat has to be within 3” of the crossbar. Do those extensions qualify it as such ?

Maybe the 3”to bar came from distance back of head/helmet needs to be.

^^^^my bad I thought there you're asking about making a pedestal on that little itty bitty piece of metal in the middle of your floorboard? That you hadn't done it and you were thinking about it and asking any ideas or if anybody had done it?

I'm pretty sure they don't want your head too far forward away from that Loop and they don't want it above, obviously LOL. Definitely bar a needs to be attached to the back of the seat. No matter how far or how far backward it is they like it attached to the roll bar.

This is my first time posting on any site. I hope it works, I found brackets at local race shop on clearance table. I had off road truck fabricator make copies to my specifications. Jaz seats are the most comfortable aluminum seats imo. Brackets are very stable and pass tech. I have them in my 10.90 street car

Well this is my first time posting to someone who's posted their first time on a forum for the first time. Welcome! LOL...
 
I figured I’d show you guys what I came up with. I need to weld in some 1/8” plate to the floor pan as a reinforcement yet and drill holes to bolt the seat to the mount and the mount to the floor pan. But you get the idea. Just need to make one now for the passenger seat. Happy the way it turned out. Was able to practice my tig welding while I was at it. I added caps to the open ends to make it look finished as well. Now to clean it up after the holes are drilled and paint it black.

We made tubular mounts in my car that mount into factory mountin holes, also goes into tabs in the frame connectors and tie into the trans tunnel.
