Yeh, nuts. Actually considering doing some sort of swap into a pickup

a 453t be good one, rare but was a aluminum block offerd! a 6v53 can be done but its tight and can get front end heavy but again an aluminum block can be found! all this works best in a ford truck but seen a 453 in a square body chevy, ol boy drug all the new diesel dualys and 4x4s round by there bumpers and didnt even have rear drive shaft in it! ant seen any in dodges but sure it can be done! 2 stroke blower motors sound like screaming demons when there right! any thing else check here! I Ran Detroit diesels for 32 years and will run them the rest of my career they are simply the most dependable diesel ever made . I ran mostly 71's but if I was to put one in a truck it would be a 53 they turn faster and remember the noise a 53 will rattle the brain of even the most hard core diesel fan. a 453 is only 212 ci so a turbo really helps with power and noise .

They are the coolest sounding diesels. Have a stash of parts though. The stuff is hard to find. A old customer has been putting 4 cyl. Cummins in Chevy pick ups. He gets them out of potato chip trucks and most have 4L80-E trannys. The newer ones are internally balanced so they don't shake too bad. They get 30+ mog.

a 6-53 is a big engine they weigh between 1800 and 2000 there no longer than a 440 but are very deep .

I had a inline 6-71 run away on me one time scary experience . WARNING . don't let anyone mess with the gov on a Detroit unless they know what they are doing ever .

That and if you have a turbo pushing oil don't start it. LOL It will run till it uses all the crankcase oil.

Ive got to play with a few. Silver 92 was my favorite. (8v) However, this 60s era military 12V53TT test pig really gets my jimmies going. (pun intended)

A non-computerized Cummins 6bt is the way to go for a diesel pickup truck.

That would be fine if I could get one what I think is reasonable. Around here any cummins that the seller can convince himself "might run" is at least 3500 and in a truck 5K and up, running or not

this thing is just super cool!!! another thing is thay can run backwards and burn oil doing it and blow exhaust out air intake!

heres a runnaway melt down!

to bad he didn't know enough to pull the emergency shut off on the way out . they hardly ever let go when they run away what happens is after 5 min or so the oil in the base catches fire and burns away then when they burn all the oil they slow down and size or let go . all that smoke was base oil burning .

A 6V-53 is only 318 cubic engines. I have worked on a lot of them in the Army. The 6V was used a lot in the old M113A2A3 APC . The M109 howitzers had 8V-92 in them etc. we allways used a clip board after a rack Adjustment, Incase of a run away.

Problem is that's about the going rate for one of those trucks. High mileage, body rotten off the frame, blown transmission, etc.. they still bring $2k and up.

LOL, I wasn't talking about the truck I was talking about a "questionable" "just the engine!"
