TorqStorm® Slant 6 Supercharger Kit

$2800 plus a blow thru carb, for how many horsepower?
That would be about $5300 Canadian plus shipping.
Even if it was free;pass. Oh wait! With a little fab work,I could put that on my 367.Oh wait;my 367 already has waaay more power than the chassis can handle......so, pass.
Again,lol.
Sorry, I got zero respect for slantys; almost every one I ever had, a rod broke and blew a big hole in the side of the block, KAPOW!.

I would love to see dyno and quarter mile testing on a bone stock slant six, in an A body. With a 904. And 2.76 gears...which is basically every survivor car that results in a free slant six being offered up to whoever wants to haul it away.

Don't worry AJ, I'm with ya too! The only reason on earth to spend a penny on a slant six is because it's a novelty, dollar for dollar, pound for pound, a slant sucks

Never on a dyno, but back in 1974, took my wife's 65 Valiant 4dr sdn. to the track. 170 slant six, 904, 7 1/4 rear ratio unknown. First pass was 22.8 did some at track tweeking, and got to 18.9, Carb was only opening a little more then half way, on the first pass.

That's a pretty good number there Charlie!! The 18.9 I mean. That's impressive!

No lie, on the first time shot a VW bug beat me on a heads up run. I took such a ribbing, I had to do something. Eventually, the car evolved to a model 100 2dr sdn (lighter) and NHRA "legal" stocker (Z/SA), with a "blueprinted" engine, Headers, 8 inch converter, manual VB, 3.91 SG rear, slicks, and was running mid 16's, with a occasional (excellent conditions) 16.2-16.3.
PS: The car had to weigh minimum 2527 lbs, and actually was 2530 with about 5 gal gas, and add 170 lbs for driver. The ET/Weight calculator shows 107 rear wheel HP for a 16.5 ET. Factory HP rating was 101 engine HP.

I did the install on one of these kits back over the summer.
Very nice package..complete and high quality.
The only real issue, is that when you install one on an early A, there is zero room between the engine and radiator for any sort of cooling fan.
Depending on the car, you've either got to relocate the radiator forward, or figure a way to mount the fan between the radiator and grill.
67-up cars, it should fit like a glove.

Planning on losing the AC? I really don't think there will be room for pushers, between the condenser, and the grill.
True. I'd forgotten about that. I'd have to get really creative there. I've seen a turbo 6 Barracuda with A/C but it was a '68 so they have a lot more room to work.

After I posted that, I got thinking. You can't leave the compressor, where it is. Might be able to make a new mount, and locate it down where the power steering pump would be.

That's what I was thinking. This uses almost the same mounting bolts as the compressor. It would be tricky, but it could be done. I was also thinking of maybe going to the dark side of the Slant and hiding it down low. My friend Ben did that with his 440 truck.

Then why are you here?
Because I drove slantys for more decades, than not?
I mean I've been licensed since 1969.
I've had a slanty car of one type or another licensed for probably over 3 decades, mostly 225s. They have not been, for me, the greatest thing since sliced bread. Not stock, and not warmed up. They blow up just like every other kind of engine. And stock, the 225s don't get better mileage than whatever. I've had examples of every other stock-stroke SBM,( Not all stock engines) that made better mpgs than my bumped-up-compression, tuned to the nines, favorite all-time slanty, that I have been tuning on since 1994.
So I think I have a right to be here.
But I guess I could be quiet while I'm here.
But actually I stumbled in here by accident; I didn't catch that I was entering , the "slant 6 forum"
EDIT; Sorry for being such an insensitive SOB.

Y'know, when I was a kid I had a big, quick mouth (no, seriously; it's true!) so I used to get sent to the principal's office a lot. Of course, everything I ever got sent there for was somebody else's fault—just ask me and I'd tell you all about how it was this other kid's fault, or that teacher's fault, or the toilet flooded all by itself and I just happened to be there, etc. The principal always tried (and failed) to get me to understand that when allllllllllll these other kids and teachers managed to interact OK among themselves, but I somehow got in tangles with so many of them, the odds were that the problem was on my end.

I'm not accusing you of deliberately blowing up your motors through abuse or neglect, but the Slant-6 has a reputation for being unusually durable—they can blow up, sure, but they're not one of the easier motors to blow up. Somehow allllllllllll those people over alllllllllll those years manage to usually not blow up their Slant-6 engines.

I'm just saying, is all.

(I'm also just saying: y'don't see many people who hang out with the Slant-6 crowd going in the V8 forums and going "V8s suck! Haw haw haw, they're stupid! They're not better, haw haw haw! I have a right to be here and say whatever I want, haw haw haw!").

Boo-Hoo, you hurt my feelings with all your misQuotes
I get you love your slantys.
But try not to put words in my moth I didn't say.
If you read it that waythat's your problem.
I tell you what, I'll just go back and edit post*22

If a guy wants to build a slant, I'm not gonna bash him for his choice, but I've owned a few and I stand by my opinion of them.
