So who sits in the middle??

I would have not guessed that.
Since I started driving that is I have ever had. I only drive old cars and for some odd reason I always get a clutch pedal. My first duster was a 225/3 by the knee. I even had a 3 on the tree at one point which makes for an interesting time getting that routine in order.

One time the linkage for the 3 on the tree broke when I was at an intersection. So I had to turn the engine off and get out and put it in 2nd gear by hand and jump back in and start up and drive up a block in 2 nd gear.

Great times, only in a classic car :)

Yes, trained both my Daughters to drive stick, just in case one of their boyfriends got drunk so there would be no excuse for them to drive home.My sister just sold her 76 duster 360 4 speed stick, her and her husband building a garage so needed the cash. But her next will be a stick also. It just seems that when buying a vehicle now a day's, you get a funny look when you ask if anything on the lot is a standard. Even the Dart I have had for over 20 years started out as a auto, first thing to do was upgrade to disk brakes, then convert to pistol grip 4 speed. Cruising. keep you partner close, light to light fun, have him give you some room for safety, and go for it!
