It's obvious you do. lol FWIW Oldmanmopar had one of the nicest Demon on the planet. BADASS car !

Why randomly say someones stripes are too low like that, just makes you look like a ***. Its not like this is the first time its happened. Ive already recieved a random personal message on the subject because he saw my car in another post. So yeah when i see this again im like who cares at this point. Why down wicked who wasnt even downing the demon the op posted. Wicked is an example of a perfect response post.

I like all old Mopars ! the car the op posted is not what I would build, but it is a nice car !

I would never say anything about the stripe and where it is if it weren't for the cap being striped wrong. My thing is the handle on the cap is always been stripe color. and they were always painted no decal. I didn't mean to start a bad conversation. And by no means do I think your car is a bad representation of what a Demon is. I just go to far on Details on these cars.
Demons and Dusters were and are my life . They are what I have always worked on since 1971. I just try and correct people when I see something I know is wrong. Is there a shame in that.
I too run weld wheels on my car. At the track people couldn't believe that everything on the body was factory correct. even the announcer mention how much everyone like the car, I have a factory spare and trunk matt in a race car. I even had to have the exhaust with original tips on the car and a floor mount cassett. and it still goes mid 10's through mufflers.
I need not say more. I was only trying to correct something I see wrong on most all Demon's. Stripe placement wrong causing the Gas cap to be done wrong. Do what you want with your car its yours .

I have every right to brag . Placed at most every show it was ever taken to. And its a race car. New Demon build coming . I am the old guy second from the left. My son and nephew are worst then me.

I must be able to brag too cause of all the compliments i have gotten lol wtf talk about full of yourself

So now its just the cap? Make up your mind

Having the name 71DodgeDemon your stripes must be wrong and you won't accept that you screwed yours up.

Move the stripe up and the correctly painted cap lines up. That is the first give away that makes me see they are low. The second is the stripe covers to much of the lip on the wheel house. You idiots know what I am talking about. You all just won't accept the fact you are wrong. The black&white picture above is in front of Grand spalding Dodge in 1971. I guess that is photo shopped also by me.

If you all want your stripes where they are that is fine. But if your not buying them for the factory look then just paint them on you will save money.

I don't see anything wrong with the stripe on the redo of the 72 that started this thread. But he didn't buy stripes . He didn't even keep the OEM cap. He did it his way. Which you all can do. but don't say I am wrong when I am not.

Maybe future builders of Demons will see this thread and install them correctly. Then the wheel well chrome, If they use it, Won't go to the edge of the stripe.

By the agrees and likes I am getting you all look like the "as you say" the f-n A-holes you are. "OMG I screwed my stripes up" I'll just make an *** out of the guy that pointed it out. So then they are OK.

Yours looks higher than in the brochure, so what i guarantee non of them were the same from the factory
Those aren't mine I don't have a Demon. They are pics of a original paint car In the body shop. I took the pics before it was stripped for paint after being hit. The stripes are 40+ years old. would expect a little shrinkage wouldn't you. Keep these for reference you may need them when you grow up. I have tons more on file of different original paint cars if you need.

For the 10th time they were installed that way on purpose, thats how i wanted them. how many times does it have to be repeated. Having the name oldmanmopar you must be a illiterate guy who cant read, dude put your glasses on and read what ive been saying the whole time.

NO BODY IS SAYING YOU ARE WRONG, BUT YOU ARE TRYING TOO HARD TO CONVINCE OTHER PEOPLE THAT WE WERE UNIFORMED AND INSTALLED THE STRIPES INCORRECTLY, WHEN ME AND MY DAD INSTALLED THEM I ALREADY KNEW THEY WERENT 100% IN THE ORIGINAL LOCATION, WE THOUGHT THEY LOOKED BETTER IN THAT POSITION ACCORDING TO THE BODY LINE, ITS THAT SIMPLE

If you dont remember this is the personal message you sent me after you saw a picture of my car in another stripe unrelated thread.

“Just thought I would let you know that your stripes were installed to low on your car. I see this done on many Demons because the fuel cap cut out is not in the stripe as the OEM styles were. Check out these original paint Demons The gas cap stripe portion was painted on from the factory. This brings the stripe up off of the wheel well and shows more color above the wheel.
The stripe does not sit centered on the body line. The body line is on the top of the bottom stripe in the rear and on the bottom of the top stripe in the front. How I know this is I installed many of them when they were new.
I am in no way putting your car down it is a beauty. Just some info you may want for the future. Some mopar enthusiasts may point this out to you. and they will be correct
I look at alot of Demons and many are put on just like yours. Guys put the stripe on under the handle on the fuel cap and cut it out. Asstated the fuel opening was in the stripes when bought from Mopar OEM. The stripe could only go on at the correct height.”

And heres my reply

“you think all of them were installed the same from the factory? I gurantee that some were installed lower and higher, they were installed there because i think it looks best with relation to the body line, and from what i gathered off this site it seems that the stripes varied upon the location of install. I know you mean well but a little ways to go out of your way to tell me something i already know lol
To me it looks stupid with the stripe partially on the body line, you can see part of the body line from the side view as the light transitions”

I stated i know for 100% the factory placement was never exactly the same, i also stated i already knew they werent in the factory spot and they were installed where me and my dad thought looked best. Im tired of repeating it

Still kinda cool you got to be involved someway in the restoration.

If you dont piss anybody off you didnt build it right lol, Whoever is trying to bring you down is already below you

Everyone knows if you discuss stripes it always turns into an argument with bad feelings.
Oh wait, that's religion. :D

That looks like a Really good looking Demon. And better pictures of the car?

The body shop that did the car where I took the pics ruined it. The owner wants to bring it to me to straighten it out but I am backed up for a yr. +. It will come here but not for a while.

People that are "puriest" want to restore their car as it came from factory. Those that want to modify a car to their tastes, like to do so without being told they are wrong!
So I keep my opinion to such to myself unless asked. Even trying to share knowledge one on one privately will usually piss off the other guy.
If I want to put a 70 stripe on my 71 duster, my choice. If I put the 71 stripe on my 71 duster in a non OEM place, TELL me before I do it!!!! lol
