I hate car shows because i hate b-body guys. i have a 66 2dr ht belvedere. it has an original rust free ca body but was a low optioned slant 6 car, 3 on the tree and 7.25 rear end. Now its a 340, 4 speed, 8.75. took it to a local show and had people telling me i ruined the car, it should have a big block, nothing you did is proper, etc. One dude and his wife said its disgraceful that i cut up the floor to put a trans hump in and that a 66 b body would never have a 340 and an od a833. then he said why not take a chainsaw and cut the top off cause it would be better as a convertible. I told him why not take his chainsaw and saw his head off cause it would make him look better. His wife called the police and told them what i said, i got kicked out of the show. What pussies.

If you did not do most of the work yourself then don't pretend that you did...

When I go to shows I'm not by my car much, to busy out looking at other cars. I like bigger shows out of state so you can see some different cars. Have a bunch of guys that go so we have a Colorado contingent. We have some good cruises around the Denver area. As far as some dweeb talking smack about my car, I just tell his car must be amazing in his mind.

I go to a few cars show during the season, I enjoy talking to fellow car owners, doesn't matter what they drive. The Mopars are always out numbered buy the Fords and Chevys , but you have to remember they made alot more cars then Chrysler did. I don't mind paying the 10 or 20 bucks, it usually goes to different charitys, plus it gets me out of the house for the day and I enjoy driving my car to the different events. As for people talking smack about my car, it doesn't bother me, I like my car and that is why I own it and not them!!

Ok....here's a legitimate complaint......
The guys walking around dropping flyers on, in and all over my car.....advertising all manner of crap I couldn't care less about. ......

Jeff

I have a A and B body car, I don't care what you have in your car or how you customized it, I just appreciate the work that is put into them.

But....you own a B body!!!

B body guys ignore me because my main B body is a wagon. To most B body guys, wagons and more doors don't count. That is exactly why I have not signed into FBBO for over a year.

Guess I could have told them I do have a GTX project car. I get more excited with the wagon anyways.

I'd love that wagon of yours (almost said something bad there )

Nella and I took her car to the Great Pumpkin car show a couple years ago. Yes, it's for charity! She likes to put in the comment section of her window slip..." I'm a girl, I'm 17(at the time), and I own a Cuda". She won the participant trophy for the Young Guns catagory, and she didn't even enter!! People love to see young folks who have an interest in cars. When we go to the big Make-a-Wish show, there's a nice young man in a wheelchair who owns a 65 Mustang. He circles his car all day long, cleaning and polishing it, and talking to the 100's of people who stop to admire him and the car. He's very proud of the car, and rightly so, it's a beautiful car!

My kids both love cars, and I like to instill and nurture that. Here's a pic of them in the GTX, they both got to drive it that day, and they both helped to wash it so they could look as cool as possible!!

He has his arm hangin out the window. That's how it's done! Awesome.

My wagon used to go to the Drive-In! :)

Hahahahahaahhahaa!!! Somebody buy this guy a beer.

"That looks like a drag car. You ever run it?"
"Yes." (Points at quarter panels covered in rubber)
"Well then, what's it run?"
"x in the 1/4 mile, y in the 1/8"
"Well my friend's gardener's niece's uncle's car runs x.xx" (less than whatever number I throw at them of course)
"Nice. My friend drives a nitro F/C. What else you wanna talk about?"

YEP! and the Et's and MPH they quote sometimes is just plain ridiculous. You feeling like saying your uncle is a F##cking genius squeezing 7.50's out of a stock 225 with a 50 shot of nitrous in a B Body. I never know to nod along or tell the guy to piss off.

Maybe cars shows should divide their areas by: intelligent, normal, dumbass, assholes, egomaniacs, true hobbiest/old car lovers, deranged (enter at own risk).....????? LOL

Wayy back in the 80's a mopar friend made the trip to the first Nats...... He said he became pretty disappointed.... back home it was a treat to see 1 real hemi car... at the nats there were lines of them...... I rather look at a survivor any car or a wagon that the average restored "musclecar" as I have owned/seen so many over the decades.

No offense, but that's probably my #1 peeve, owners who are never around their cars. Lotsa times I'll want to chat up the owner of something that I like but never see anyone. I get that you want to check out the other cars (I do too), but would it kill you to hang around your own once in a while? Even something as mundane as my slant 2 door post Dart gets its admirers.

i don't mind an occasional 50's song but damn man.. all 50's sucks.. lets hear some 60's,70's and 80's stuff for god sakes. half the old heads into the 50's crap are half deaf which is probably why its blaring..

I hear ya! I get that it's mostly older people who have the classic cars, but I'm 68 and 50s music is really before my time.
What's worse is the shows where they play a 45 min. or so loop of nothing but car songs, many of them remakes from some bad K-Tel album. How many times can you hear "little Nash Rambler, beep beep" in one day? Or lifetime? :BangHead:

Since I've already voiced my gripe I will share my favorite cruise from last year. The local Applebee's hosts a cruise every other Tuesday and they have a different theme each event. This particular night was to be "anything GM night" so I dusted off my 75 Vette and made the 12 mile trip into town. I was sitting at the last light where all I had to do was cross the 4 lane and turn into the Applybee's parking lot. When the light turned green I couldn't help but turn left and a right at the next light then headed out of town into the beautiful countryside of Western PA. I drove around for 2 hours in the country stopping at a couple of spots near the river to watch the ducks swim. About a hundred shifts later the Sun started getting low in the West so I turned toward home. I never made it to Applebee's that night but it turned out to be one of the better cruise nights of 2017. Yeah it was a great evening.

Never put my car in a show because it needs work to make it presentable. I did take it to the local car show a couple of times but parked it at the back gate. I'm not interested in people telling me how bad my wiring is or why I am fixing up a Scamp or whatever. I already know what I've got and just trying to please me in my old age. Not interested in pleasing joe public. The thing I dislike the most at car shows is the rich guy that has his car all in order that won't even give a poor guy like me the time of day. Don't get me wrong Iv'e met some real good rich guys out there but the few that are A holes seem to be everywhere.

So just because someone's car is "in order" means they are a "rich guy"? Not usually.

No not what I'm saying I guess I shoulda said the rich guy that has his car in order. some day I hope soon my car will be in order and I am far from rich. You know the old saying born broke and still have most of that left.
