Hi Everyone,

What a great site this is. I recently purchased a 69 Barracuda project car, while trying to research it I stumbled across this site. I have already gained a lot of info from all of the posts here. A lot of great information and members here. Hope some day to be able to give back also.

I have been in love with A bodies my entire life but have not owned one in almost 30 years. I learned to drive on a 65 valiant that was the only new car my parents ever owned. I purchased my first car when I was 15 yrs old, a 73 Duster for 50 bucks. It was a slant 6 car and all smashed in the front. I sold the drive train out of it and used the money to buy a Duster with a 318 that was smashed in the back. I disassembled both cars and took the best parts to make a real nice driver. I got a bunch of 340 parts out of the junkyard to hop it up a bit, back when the bone yards were full of 60's and 70's mopars....

I ended up trading the Duster for Dodge shadow in the 80's when I needed a reliable car that was good on gas to get to work. To this day that was one of the most regrettable decisions I have made. I never could have imagined the way prices skyrocketed for all mopars.

Anyway work, marriage, kids, a house, sick parents and life has gotten in the way for the last three decades and I have not had time for an A body project. My youngest graduates high school in a few months, so I am finally having some free time for a project. I would like to say I have the money for this project, but college for my kids is pricey these days. I did have enough of a cash advance on my credit card to but this car. Feels kinda good to be irresponsible for a change :)

I bought my ultimate dream car a few months ago, a 69 Barracuda fastback with a 440 slammed in it. Originally a brown slant 6 car with mishmash of 67-69 parts installed on it. It looks to have had a rough life crappy body work and bondo in lots of places. Hasn't been on the road is years and smelled like a family of rodents lived it i for a decade before I bought it.

Its mine now and I couldn't be happier. Hope to start a rebuild thread soon. Thanks to anyone that has read this far into my ramblings....

Welcome from the Bratt area! It is a great site, lots of great helpfull people with an amazing wealth of knowledge.

Welcome , from your distant neighbor in New Hampshire . You are fortunate in that there are some really good engine and tranny people in northern New England . Not so fortunate in the sheet metal area . We are here to help . Stay positive , it's a long journey . Later, Tom

Thanks guys!

Nice to hear from some local members from northern New England. I could only imagine that sheet metal would be hard to find. Welcome to the salt belt, cars don't wear out they rust out....

I have spent way too much of my life patching together trucks, Jeeps and especially Subarus to get them through inspection. My son came home recently with a "great deal" on a '96 grand cherokee with expanding foam rockers and lower fenders. Three months and an ungodly amount of time later it was ready for inspection.

Happy to be putting the time into car that I really want in the end.
