Anyone Else Like Beer Memorabilia?

Beer sign on...got to go...see ya later....!!!!

Didn't he have a tray with a couple beers on it?
Originally it was a point of purchase sales device for grocers and liquour stores. He would be holding a twelve pack of Hamm's bottles, surrounded by dozens of them for sale. I've tried two different items from my collection so far. Not sure which I like better.

The wife is already telling me to "get that thing out my living room". LOL

I like the neon!

I bought an Olympia sign/clock off of my neighbor fairly cheap because the motion didn't work on it. Replaced the motor with one off of eBay and now I have this.

My wife has 3 or 4 neon beer signs she wants to sell, if anyone is within driving distance of Asheville, NC. Those things are too fragile to ship!

We're at the beach right now, and the signs are all at home.

I have to get my friend's Boar's Head neon back from being repaired, I'll.post pics when I pick it up.

While the Dart sits in the garage waiting on spring, the beer sign bug has bit. I bought these two today. Drove in freezing rain for an hour to pick them up at a good price.

Hamm's was bought by the Olympia Brewing Company in the mid-seventies during my dad's tenure there. They also aquired Lone Star, and thusly Buckhorn. I have a picture somewhere of Grandma Ruth with a Buckhorn in her hand.

Very cool!

I have very clear memories at an earliest age of my grandpa saying "Hey kid, go get me an Oly" and I'd run to the fridge and grab him one. He stopped drinking for the most part in the early 90's and hadn't seen an Oly in about 20 years. Thought they just went out of business.

A few years ago before he passed, I was at BevMo and low and behold I found a case of Olympia there. I took it home and called him up one Saturday and told him to come over and visit. When he came over I had a couple lawn chairs set up out front and had him come sit down and talk. I reached into the cooler and handed him an Oly and you should have seen the look on his face. Was a pretty cool moment for us.

We drank a couple and after visiting for a while he just stands up and says "don't tell your grandma", crushes the can, throws it into my bushes and gets in his truck and leaves :usflag:

This story repeats itself for so many of us!!
And you know what? It wouldn't have worked if it had been 7up, coca cola, pepsi, grapefruit juice or anything other than beer

I bought this dusty Lone Star light at an estate sale. It would occasionally light up but wouldn't rotate.

I put a $35 set of plastic gears in it and now have this!

I thought he held s case of beer, back when a case was a cardboard box. I always wanted one to put a 13" TV in his hands. I would love to buy beer memorbillia, but it is out of my price league.

He does now. I found an empty Hamms box at a sale and bought it for him. It's like anything collectable or even old Mopars, you have to scour Craigslist, garage and estate sales, flea markets, etc looking for deals. I don't pay tons of money on my stuff because I have a wife and a mortgage, but look for stuff that needs work or cleaned up. I enjoy swap meets and kicking through piles of old junk looking for jems. I've met a lot of nice people along the way. Kind of like here on FABO.

So my wife and I have been moving things around in our house. The gym and treadmill went into the office that was never used and out of our media (bonus) room over the garage, which left a big open space. I casually mentioned to a good friend of mine that it would be perfect for a pool table. He said that he had a neighbor who was getting rid of one.

To shorten the story, we ended up with a 4 X 8 1" slate pool table for free. My freind and I moved it in (I had no idea how heavy they are.....) and set it up. It came with two sets of balls, all the cues and this cool Budweiser pool light (the point of the story).

Anyhow, the bud light (well, not bud light but a bud pool light) is cool, but just a little too tacky for our decor. I think that I am going to sell it. It really is in nice shape. Anyone have an idea of its vintage or value? I see them on ebay for 300 USD. I was thinking of asking 200 or 250 CDN.

Thoughts ??

I'm not sure what it's worth north of the border but around here that light is pretty common and worth about $200 USD. I would list it locally because it's gonna be expensive to ship. Good luck!

You got the table for free? Pay it forward and give the light to someone you know who needs one for their pool table. Just a thought.

And a good thought! My initial reaction was that I can make a buck for the car fund..... I will ask around and see if anyone that I know needs one.

Just stopped by a friend's shop,he just bought a large collection that included three 4 globe Hamm's noens. Selling the worst of the three for $1750. He will make more selling the collection, than I'll make working this year. Insane what old items bring.

I saw him sell an original, still in the crate one of these 5 years ago. These things aren't coming down in price.
