I have a good 9o's Magnum 360 engine and I've been looking for a project car for it. Came across a 75 Dart sport in nice original shape. (yet to see in person) It has a 225 with a three speed floor shift. Does anyone know what rear end it would have or if it's got the larger wheel bolt pattern or disc brakes standard maybe? Power brakes standard?

Hi. Not sure but I think if it's drum brakes it is small bolt and if it is disc brakes it is big bolt pattern. Power brakes was an option. Probably a 7-1/4 rear end. Nine bolts on the housing cover is a 7-1/4, 10 bolts makes it a 8-1/4. Bobby

They made a 10 bolt 7.25 also.
On a 1975 car I would expect a 7.25 rear end, Power brakes with discs up front and the 4.5 bolt pattern wheels and power steering.

Doesn't mean that's what it is, but this is what I would expect to find.

Take a pic of the rear. A slant six car will most likely have a 7.25 but it could have been swapped over the years.

Thanks guys. I figure the entire drivetrain would have to be replaced and if lucky it might have discs and power brakes/steering. May have to go for a drive to check it out.

I agree with TrailBeast. In a ‘75 with a /6 I would definitely expect to find a 7.25 rear axle. As late as it is I would also expect it to have the 5x4.5” BBP with disks up front, but if it’s a stripped down base model it’s possible that it could be a 4 wheel drum car with the 5x4” pattern.

My ‘74 Duster was a very plain, low option 225 /6 car though, and even it had manual disks and a BBP 7.25.

Neat looking car! I hope they throw in the steering wheel cover. :D
Seriously though, they never made a bad A-Body. Even the most base model /6 cars were great for what they were. This being a Dart Sport automatically makes it cool, IMO. I also happen to love the dark brown/tan combination. It's very period-correct.

So yeah, it's almost certainly a 7.25" axle car which, if you were to drop in the 5.9, wouldn't be a good match but that also doesn't mean that it has to be replaced right away. I drove my Dart Sport with the 5.9 Magnum for somewhere around 1000 miles on the 7.25... just knew that I couldn't hammer on it at all but it will work for gentle driving. My dad filmed the biggest “burn out” I ever did with the 7.25”. Yeah it was pretty intense but the 7.25 held up.

:D

If the price is fair and the body is solid, I wouldn't hesitate on this one. If you don't want it, share the location with the forum as I suspect someone would gladly snatch this up.

As for the brakes, in the unlikely event that this has front drum brakes, you'll definitely want to budget for upgrading those pretty early on if you plan on hotrodding around at all.

Good luck and keep us posted!

A 10 bolt 7 1/4 rear, I wonder if the rear is not one from an old Dodge 1/2 ton, one never knows!!!
All 76 /6 came with a 7 1/4, so I think 75s were alike unless they were specially ordered.
