340 Block value

Years ago...........

I got a call from my brother, he works at NAPA & customers knew he had a Mopar owning brother.

The guy is leaving town the next day, has a bunch of Challenger & other parts he wants gone. I had a Challenger at the time, so I called him.

T/A hood, sixpak manifold & a whole lot more, I took it all for $400.00 bucks - his price & this was over 25 years ago.

In the mix was a 1972 340 with a 2G VIN prefix, so I asked him if he knew what car it came out of.

He did.

He said it was the yellow '72 Road Runner with custom red stripes that used to park behind the Marine View apartment building, but he had not seen the car in years.

I had seen it back then & also knew the newer owner. It belonged to a guy I met in the 7th grade.

Joe's place was on my way home, so I stopped in.

He was not home.

I told his wife what was up, so she opened the garage door for me & I left the block for Joe.

He called to thank me when he got home. He did confirm that it matched his car first though, he was shocked.

I got so many parts that day at a great price, the block was free to him.

It felt good. It still feels good. :)
