Does anyone have pictures of a Dart with a two tone paint job where the vinyl top has been removed but the chrome trims were left in place?

If rust counts as the second color, I'll take pics of mine after the sun comes up.

If it's a factory top color, from 50 feet away I can't tell the difference unless it's way glossy.

Some where painted that way from the factory. At least in 68 and 69.

Here is a pic of my old 72 that had cancer under the vinyl. I stripped the vinyl and intended to to be reinstall the trim, but the body man misunderstood and shaved the trim studs off....

The roof is painted in this pic.

That's a beautiful color combo

Hey thanks. When I bought the car it had a black top and black 68 style rump stripe. It looked crappy. The white is actually a cream, it went well with the orange. I sold the car several years ago, it went to Germany. It was a lot of fun, raunchy 440, full manual auto, fenderwell headers.

Like this?
They were both removed and painted with the trim left on.
I like the trim even without the vinyl.
Not real easy to see in these pics but both have it on, and the yellow cars roof is texture painted.

Okay, so you don't have trim in this picture? It's hard to tell.

These look great! From what d55dave says there are some trim studs that the trim is attached to. Mine are not there. I wonder how difficult to attach the trim without them.

It's easy actually.
Take a section of the trim off and you will see how the underside is shaped, and the go to the hardware store and get some flat head machine screws that when two flats are ground on the side of the head will slide into the trim.
The flats keep the screw from spinning when you tighten them up.
Been there and done that is why I know for sure this works, and don't forget to seal around the attaching screws to keep water out of your trunk.

This style works perfect and can be gotten at Ace Hardware in the furniture hardware bolt and screw boxes they have on the wall.
You can also use flat head screws like go into a tapered recess, but they have to be the exact right size and not tightened too much as to spread the trim.
Actually you just want any of them just snug and not over tightened where it distorts the trim.

Should I pre-drill holes into the car?

Should I pre-drill holes into the car?

I thought they were already there from the old roof, but yes you would have to pre drill.
A suggestion would be to tape the trim in place and then tape your edges along the trim to show where to drill in between the tape peices.
I think there are three holes along the center bottom piece, and one at each side corner where it turns toward the front.
I think it will get clearer once you see the trim in place on the car.

The top was painted by the po. Apparently the new top blew off. I need to sand it all down and redo it, as the paint is over top of the glue. I guess you could call it textured.
