I'm continuing to make custom resin cars for the track that were never available otherwise. The airplane will be circling overhead as the races go on. I'm planning on attaching it to a turntable beneath the layout.

The Willys coupe is one of my favorites so far. On most of these cars I've had to make my own decals. These were tough to do on this one.

My heart is still firmly with the Mopars but I really needed some brand X vehicles to fill out the field. The '70 Nova is one example.

This '65 Fury will look great once I get a chassis finished for it.

I like the cardstock dirt modified bodies. Wouldent mind making some for my HO scale cars. I bet thos fly without the extra weight of a plastic body.

Just wow ..John.....Late models/ modified's ? Nice work ,B.T.W.....

Thanks bomber. With winter's end approaching I'll be ending the basement track progress soon. - Been rushing to get as much done as I could before I have to turn my attention to other things.

You're right Matt. Those paper bodied cars are the fastest cars on my layout by far. I had to tweak the design a few times to get the fit right on the chassies I chose to use. Once there's an initial template made it's a matter of adjusting width, height, & wheelbase until it worked. - It was sort of a time consuming process for the first one but once done it's a cheap way to produce car bodies.

Looks awesome John.

Thanks R4. I'm trying... The other day I purchased a huge tarp that was big enough to cover the ceiling and two walls. My hope was that it would darken the room enough to make it look like the night sky when I turned off the ceiling lights and turned on a star projector. (my walls are beige and my ceiling is white) Unfortunately that tarp I bought was shiny and reflected too much light. The blue color wasn't dark enough either.

Anyway, I bought a couple gallons of dark blue flat latex. Tonight I'm painting the tarp. Early testing looks great so far. If I can make a realistic sky effect it should look good with the track lighting below. I'm waiting for another motor to drive the plane so that it will circle the track while we're racing. The 'raffle car' is on a motor driven turntable that rotates slowly.

I'm trying to achieve enough motion around the layout to make it look 'alive'.

Another hobby-stock car.

I need to keep a closer eye on the track. Today I noticed a vandal tagging the banked track's retaining wall.

Thanks Jimmer. It pales next to the ultra-realistic layouts that some guys have made but I've been striving to make it a fun setup with a lot of activity going on in addition to the racing action.

In scrolling from bottom up , my 1st thought was "a guy peeing on the wall". 2nd thought, "Wonder why there's a dot hiding his face?" Then I read he's tagging the wall. His identity withheld? LOL

Just Unbelievable Priceless, John....

I'm hoping the stage turns out like I've planned. When it's done the (repainted eventually) Beatles will move around via the mechanism I've robbed from the ice rink and an MP3 player will broadcast music from a speaker beneath the stand. I'll also have a series of spot lights added to the stage.

It's difficult to tell from the poor quality pictures I took but the plane's propeller spins (at 40,000 RPM) and there are four blinking lights on it also (a clear one on each wingtip and red ones on top of the tail and bottom of the engine compartment. The plane circles the water tower via a motor beneath the layout table coupled to an enclosed driveshaft that extends to the top of the tower.
