Will a gas tank from a 71 dart fit a 67 dart? Thanks for any help.
My 71 had the charcoal canister, my current 70 does not.I think it fits just fine, but the later tank may have an extra vent tube on the front that you don’t need. You just have to figure out how you want to deal with that vent tube if it’s there.
You are correct. Both the Barracuda and Dart had the single strap in ‘67. They were changed to the dual strap in ‘68. Good catch, I missed it. The OEM ‘71 tank won't fit in the ‘67.IDK about Darts but a 67 Barracuda has one restraining strap running left to right. Somewhere along the way they changed to 2 straps running fore and aft. I think 68. Aftermarket tanks accommodate either year but a factory tank probably does not. The difference being recesses in the tanks stamping for the strap.

I'm not convinced it wont fit, it just wont be restrained correctly. You are correct. Both the Barracuda and Dart had the single strap in ‘67. They were changed to the dual strap in ‘68. Good catch, I missed it. The OEM ‘71 tank won't fit in the ‘67.
Not sure what year it may be but make sure the vent isn't plugged. Little critters like to plug em up.I got the tank today and there are no vents at all? only vent is on the top of the filler neck. what year would this be for? best part was it was free so I will make it work and when I looked inside the tank and sending unit look like new!!
My new tank had the extra vent tube in front, I ran it up in high in the trunk, w/ a couple of coils on it and back down thru the floor to the bottom of the frame level. Also took the original out of the frame, to run along side it. Haven`t had gas come out of either one yet .I think it fits just fine, but the later tank may have an extra vent tube on the front that you don’t need.
