I was looking at the dust cover on my transmission and noticed this inspection hole? Looks like it was designed this way but was wondering if there's supposed to be a cover over this part?

Mancini also carries a cover without that inspection hole...

What can get in there that matters.....in CA? I mean most of the time, if the car is moving, the TC is gonna be whizzing around in there at over 1700 rpm,lol
Dust, dirt, sand....and it all makes its way to the converter seal area...

Thanks for the input! I took the advice of Dragonsteel and fandangled a plate today. I could feel some grit and grime already getting in there, so I feel better now lol! Thanks again for the feedback!

Missing cover is not terribly important but nice to have. The purpose of the cover is to allow access to drain the torque convertor.

I'm haven`t ran a dust cover on any of my 727`s in over 45 yrs. I think it helps keep the convertor cooler, but I don`t drive in the desert or on dirt roads either.

there are different size covers, just noticed that last night. I had a dust shield for a SB 727 with no cover and a cover for a 904, didn't match the opening.

I bought one off a forum member for my 904, but you can very easily make one
