A833 Input Shaft Woes

I’m in need of some input shaft advice... and probably an input shaft, or maybe a whole new trans.

I was beginning to restore a short-tailpiece, A833 4spd that came with my project car (1969 Barracuda)... this came to a halt when, over a YEAR ago, I sent the input shaft to Jamie Passon to restore. He then sent it off to someone else to do the work (I wasn’t aware he was planning to do this, or I probably wouldn’t have sent it to him).

The company/Person he sent it to... according to him... LOST it.

He never did find me another one, and I’ve gotten tired of checking in with him to see how the search is coming (I always had to do the calling).... about a half dozen contacts.

Anyway... I’m not slamming him, but I’m tired of dealing with it. So... I have a complete, but input shaftless trans.

Trans tailpiece is stamped with:
PP8333323 (translates to 9/2/1970)

Input shaft retainer: C94796 (4.354”)

I did NOT count the # of teeth on the input shaft before I sent it to him. From my research, I can assume, because it was probably out of a 1971 model A body, that it had 25 teeth, but I don’t know for sure.

Can anyone confirm that I probably had a 25 tooth input shaft?

I’m assuming I can’t just put a 23 or 24 tooth (much easier to find than a 25 tooth input) input shaft in place of a 25 tooth?

Anybody have a 25 tooth IS for sale?

Any other options that make sense?

Thanks!!

Jason
