If you compare the cost to other retail items of similar material, charcoal grille, pot and pans, anything..., you were robbed.
We could make our own from cookie sheets and design bolt in/removable for cleaning feature. Hold what you bought under there and look at it. You should see how simple this could be done. Back when I was once pursuing this I noticed a higher demand/need for console brackets.
I designed and produced console brackets as good as, in some ways better than, OEM and even included a placement template. I found I couldn't get into all the cell phones/eyes and wallets. So when aftermarket started offering these brackets, their buyers would come to me for the template.
I gave up, sold out.
