Well, my last project was a bit more involved - complete transmission rebuild. ....fun.
But after a bit of hassle, it's done and working great...!

Now, onto my leaking Saginaw power steering pump!

I could get a new one, or a remanufactored but what's the fun in that?!!!

Kits are $15 - $20.....

Any tips or tricks?

Stay tuned!

Jeff

Takes about 20 minutes to rebuild that pump. I did mine a month ago, no leaks and works perfectly.

If you can rebuild a transmission I'm sure you can rebuild a power steering pump :)

Did one years ago - piece of cake.
You'll have no trouble after doing your tranny.

Did mine last year, only thing i had a bit of an issue with was removing the old pump from the housing as it was pretty crusty. IIRC, had to put some longer bolts in and knock it out. Otherwise, quick and easy.

Yeah the saggy naw is the easier of them. There are helpful how to videos on YouTube also.
Tips?.... Beware of return tube. To crack the spot where return tube is brazed to the reservoir can ruin yer day.
If the shaft is very worn where the seal runs, you can stop short of driving the new seal to the stop shoulder. I took the time to make a spacer from a piece of aluminum I had here. .042 thickness if my memory serves. Just enough to stop the seal with lip on new land.

Thank you!
