list your most moronic thing you've seen done to a car

For many years, starting in '73, I had a job in the engineering lab of an auto parts manufacturer. Over the years I got to look at lots of new and used cars up on lifts. Saw a '65 Tempest with seat belts holding up the exhaust system. Saw a '62 Impala with the bottom of the frame gone, rusted away. The 62-64 Chevys had a problem with this.

One of the more alarming things I ever saw was a '73 Mustang convertible that had a heavy piece of cable with a turnbuckle in the middle running from the front left corner to the right rear corner of the car. It had some rust and structural problems underneath. With the car on the ground, you wouldn't think anything was wrong with it, it looked beautiful.
