I just rebuilt my 904 with a TCI rebuild kit and use the instructions to modify the valve body, servo and accumulator for "competiion" (non street use)

I' gonna call TCI in the morning and ask but it seems to want a lot of RPM. I took it up to 3,000 RPM today and it did not shift.

With out taking it to the track it' hard to get much more RPM before I'm in loosing my licence territry.....

Do you think I'm just over thinking this and I need to open it up or try a quick drive on the freeway?

Being a race car I'm nervous about taking it on the street much.

Thanks for all the help.

Won't shift into which gear, 2nd, 3rd? I am having the same issue with my TCI rebuild kit. Won't shift into 3rd! 65'

Does it even have kickdown linkage? I would assume that would be a full manual valve body in there and that thing should shift into any gear you put it in the second you do so?

Double check kick down linkage is adjusted properly. Will it shift manually? I am not a trans guy but I would talk to their tech guy first. I live right on a highway and have test drove my race cars mud trucks infront of the house in the middle of the day when there’s no traffic if an officer does stop you just tell them like I did that your building the car and testing it before you take it for inspection. I guess the officer was admiring the 505”RB dodge powered s10 with the upright headers on cut tires but he did not mind as long as I was not cutting up. I can pull out of the driveway and the limit is 65mph make two u turns And be in my driveway in about a 1 mile trip. How bad is the traffic and are you in a neighborhood?

When you said shift point? I thought at what RPM's do you shift at at the track? And I was thinking oh I set the light to go off about 6,200 RPMs but that is always subject to what somebody next to me is doing? I mean like at 6,200 when that light goes off they're still pulling on me it may be 7,200 before I shift LOL

Sometimes 8000 with another 150shot lol

I'm not sure it's shifting at all.

Almost seems stuck in 1st. At 3k I'm thinking I was doing about 60 MPH? (In a 25 zone.)

No kick down, just throttle pressure and it is hooked up. The guy at TCI said I don't need it but I'm gonna leave it for now.

All the testing was done in drive, I'll try manually shifting tomorrow and see if the one two is working.

Sorry J Par no track time yet, just getting her ready. Still waiting for funds to finish the 9".
I'm not gonna waist my track time with the 7 1/4 and 293 rear gear.

No, it's a modified factory valve body.

One spring in each servo, 2 spacers under the rear servo plunger, block off rod in the accumulator, opened one passage in the body maze and drilled out the separator plate and cut down one pistion.

I'll be calling first thing in the morning. Just wanted to get out ahead of the issue if there is one. Very well could be not enough RPM but I never used this kit so wanted to see if anyone here had experince with it.

Just thought. All the little balls were in their place?

After my 727 rebuild, i can NOT stress how important properly adjusting the throttle pressure linkage is.....
It will cause very early shifts or very delayed (high RPM) shifts.....

Humm, I will adjust the TP linkage in the morning. I did have to set it a little more slack than I like to get WOT. It's almost like the 950 CFM opens further than my 750.

So I did my 904 transmission last summer and I did the transgo stage 3 shift kit in it which was the full manual shift kit. I just ended up pinning the pressure valve wide open and it worked perfect.

How did you pin the PV open?

(Side note, I still wanna make your scoop.)
Some day it's just gonna show up on your porch..

:)

But pinning It Wide Open should give it the problem that you're talking about it having? Especially if it has a variable valve pressure. Pinning It Wide Open would hold the shifts out as long as possible and give an extra strong shift, which is probably what you want for the most part. But my manual shift just shifted when I wanted it to and if I start out in 3rd it would start out in 3rd if I start out and second it would start out in second. But it shifted absolutely perfect I mean the best shifting transmission I ever had as far as an automatic. But me personally I would never have one of those -- wait a minute, I can't say never , I Just Did Last Summer LOL
NEVER AGAIN!!!!!

I am not a trans expert, but I have read a lot of bad about tci `s mopar stuff. Even read people saying not to use them. I did use them on my sbc tho.

I had to adjust then test drive a ot of times.....it took a lot of fiddling with to get it right.....its a PITA but totally worth it.
