Stop in for a cup of coffee

Well, we can talk about the N&P forum if you like ------ but having another place for politics discussions isn't the answer.
Not suggesting any change to N&P. It is what it is. :drama:
What myself and others are saying here is Please let us have our 'coffee shop' conversation among adults. If it actually becomes a 'problem', I for one WELCOME you/mods to intervene or cut it off. But really I think most here do a good job of holding the line. As said, I have zero interest in anyone's political views or affiliations. But I am interested in the personal thoughts and views of others. We can and have had non political debates on many topics that affect all of us without going into where any particular party or elected official stands on the issues.

Thank you very much. this is what I was trying to say but couldnt find the words. :thankyou::thumbsup:

Car talk only, no current/life events even if the poster is one involved? Is that the road we really want to drive down?

See - this is EXACTLY the problem. You want absolute where there can be none without putting a stranglehold on things. I don't want a stranglehold on things. But I also don't want political stuff outside of the politics forum. So tell me, how exactly would YOU fix the problem?

So your idea is to let things happen and then clean it up after? How about this -- lets avoid the problem in the first place and keep politics in the politics forum. Or I could do what some others have asked and just delete this thread completely. That would solve the problem too right?

It was all good until a few personalities got crosswise.. Then there's butthurt.. And retaliation and more butthurt.. It will eventually kill this thread, much to my chagrin.. It's been a great place to hang out and bs. Whenever a subject gets 'deep', I bow out, not the place for deeply emotional rants of any kind..

Here's a suggestion: we have a rule that states a discussion becomes political when a politican or other political party enters into the fray.

Example of what would be allowed: Hey, my take home pay increased due to the recent tax cuts.

Example of what would NOT be allowed: Hey, Congress cut taxes but increased the deficit.

See the difference?

yeah, I agree. I hope it continues.

I think I like the idea of deleting the whole thread better. See, then there isn't a bunch of work of our moderators and they can focus their attention on other things.

Definitely don't want that.

See, this thread has been more or less ok for 8400 pages ---- You want to change the rules. I get it. I have a different position though. I don't want to **** it up, which your rule change might do. Your rule change might **** up many other threads too. So do I risk it or leave things as they are ?

I'd rather just leave things how they were. Before all this started. Not asked for a rule change, you implied you were changing how discussions were viewed with this whole political discussion crap(none of it was). So I provided an example or suggestion as you asked for. We were simply having a conversation about me possibly going to the border and what I'd be doing. None of it was political.

This whole thing started because ONE clown got caught posting **** in this thread and in his avatar and then turned vindictive. That said, I dont want a rule change.

So I'd much much rather you let us go about things as we have BEFORE that happened. I think the majority of us in here know when we're about to cross a line and avoid it, always have. I'm fairly confident in all the regulars here when I say you can trust us to not let this turn into another N&P forum.

Joey - You might ask TMM, after all, he started this thread and he's a moderator.

Ben Drinkin seems to have hit the nail on the head. That's what's really going on here, politics not policy.

'As they are' is not 'as they were'. There is a somewhere in between that can work. The rules never changed. Just they were not enforced at times and stuff was let slide. We need to re-establish the rules as we are doing here. Then, it is up to individuals to follow them.

Yes, but with the rules clearly established, hopefully there won't be much cleanup.

and we come back to the point - some of these things are subjective and therein lies the problem. Then we have amateur lawyers who want to argue every little detail about these kinds of things. Arguing every little technicality.

Then there are some of you that are constantly throwing little digs at each other which are quite subtle and go unnoticed by many. Like the avatar games some of you play. (some thought I didn't notice this)

Cant we all just get along? One of the first things I do in the AM is to see what kind of mischief my FRIENDS are up to in the coffee house. Then I do the second thing.
Sometimes I wonder if...............the demon...............Alcohol is involved with the conflicts!! Nah!!!!! Love this place and you guys....NOT like THAT!!!! Sheez!

And we do have plenty of Mopar and Car conversations here. After all, first and foremost we are Car guys, and Gals!

Face it... We screwed up! We let the drama department in and it's kinda sucked since.

So anyhow,

My gasket set for my poly came in today. Think I'll start tearing down the donor engine tonight.

Then it'll be ready to go for when my wiring harness kit comes in next week. Hopefully 22 circuits is enough.

years ago at one of the Englishtown swapmeet and shows the best car IMO was a VW beatle done up as a fun safari - combat theme with cow catcher and spikes - and yes - forward squirting washers.
I was sittin the Baja bug race car just before we got it lettered, finishing things up. Right in front of me is the squirter . "That looks like a spider" I thinks to myself. I told Paul the car owner "I love it!" was his response. He told the sign guy that was doing the lettering. Sign guy paints legs around the squirter and dressed it up with a little more paint. It must have sparked the sign guy's interest too, there were numerous spiders added to the race car in odd locations, gas cap, door handles, hood pins
