I have an early abody slant six 833. If I wanted to change from a 23 to an 18 spline what am I needing for this?

My question to you is..... Why?

23 spline inputs can take a beating.

exactly, huge effort for zero return. and for a slant six!! even. Complete waste of time.

Not if I need to change internals to Passon OD instead of buying 833OD

So far as I know (old memory) the gears are different, IE you cannot just toss an 18 spline in there

"Not if I need to change internals to Passon OD instead of buying 833OD"

What does that even mean?? I don't think you can create an 18 spline OD if that's what you think.

Well you dont want a 833 OD, imho. If Passon it is, then simply using an 18 spline disc should be main need. Plus the throw-out bearing for an 18 spline.

In my 1967 Barracuda 273 I upgraded to the 10 inch “taxi” clutch disk from the 9.25” it came with. Jamie made me a 10” clutch disk with the 18 spline pattern. It works great.

That's right, the gears are a set . Of all the gears Mopar made there is exactly one gear that can be interchanged and that is the low gear; you can swap it between the 2.66 low box, and the 2.47 box IIRC and that's that.
If you want an 18 spline input, you will need the entire gearset, or make yourself one.
But before you go that route, be advised that it is far,far cheaper to just change the disc.
Also, the early As had the 3.09 first gear in them.
AFAIK the 18 spliners were 2.44, and a coarser pitch on them to handle BB torque..That's a heck-of-a-hit for the old slanty. There was a second gearset for the 18 spliners but I cannot recall the low-gear ratio. Hah, I just remembered;2.65
