Grabbed a pair of Phillips "direct replacement" bulbs off of Rock Auto. They go right into the sockets and promptly
don't emit any light, making the "Light Emitting" portion of "light emitting diode" name a bit misleading. :D
Has anyone tried these?
It looks like they might require the opposite polarity from what is being delivered to the socket...has anyone taken a file to the nubs on the base of the bulb and installing it the other way around? Obviously it would be necessary to find another way to hold the bulb in place... Is there a better way to swap polarity?
