led tailight bulbs

Grabbed a pair of Phillips "direct replacement" bulbs off of Rock Auto. They go right into the sockets and promptly don't emit any light, making the "Light Emitting" portion of "light emitting diode" name a bit misleading. :D

Has anyone tried these?

It looks like they might require the opposite polarity from what is being delivered to the socket...has anyone taken a file to the nubs on the base of the bulb and installing it the other way around? Obviously it would be necessary to find another way to hold the bulb in place... Is there a better way to swap polarity?

More Information for PHILIPS 1157LED

Reversing the contacts in the socket of an 1157 type bulb does NOT reverse polarity. An 1157 bulb has TWO filaments, each to GROUND. What you would be "reversing" is the "dim" tail filament to the "bright" signal/ stop filament.

In other words you still have B+ to the contact and NEG to the shell either way

No idea what the trouble might be...................

ONLY BULBS that would revers polarity in this fashion are the dual contact interior lamps, 1004 where the power and ground is supplied to the contacts and not the shell which is unused
