66 Dart GT HT Whatsitgonnabe?

Hello. I'm back. Winter is slowly releasing its grip on Sweden. Before Christmas it was all wet, very windy and in all respects awful. The new year began in the same fashion but then it turned cold and in some parts extremely snowy. We here in the SW got periods of snow followed by cold and then thaw, resulting in lots of ice and frozen ground. Then March came and goes down in history as one of the coldest ever. It's been freezing temperatures right up to the end of last week.

It shifted this week-end, though, and I mounted the summer tires just yesterday and they've been busy sweeping up the grit from the streets all day. I bet the bikers are happy about that.

We started renovating the guest house on the coast a while back. What started as a quick wallpaper and ceiling paint job turned into a total nightmare - as old house projects do. We've pretty much finished tearing the place up and are ready to start putting new insulation and floor boards in.

I'm not sure if I mentioned that I bought an old Audi A4 Quattro from a colleague. I think I did. Anyway, swapping out the ABS module was a lot more difficult than I thought. Had I researched it, I would have found that the 4WD models have a different, much more difficult to find and therefore a LOT more expensive model. I actually tried to fix the broken one and failed miserably. I finally caved and bought a working unit for $300.

Anyway, I haven't touched the Dart all winter. I did, however, work on my air compressor and the drill press I bought. I've been doing it as a project with one of the kids I have at school. He's interested in these sorts of things and we've assembled the compressor block, shrink fitting on bearings and all and disassembled the drill press. It's very rewarding and I feel privileged to have this young man learning in my basement.

As an idiotic engineering project, I've designed an air cooler/dryer for the compressor. We've worked on this together, too, soldering copper tubing together to make a tube heat exchanger. A lot of fun and hopefully it'll work as intended and dry my air, too.

Here's the drill press spindle, all cleaned and bearings removed, new SKF ones on my desk, ready for re-assembly come Friday.
