With the oem light and stock wiring they sure don't.
Run a relay kit with a nighthawk sealed halogen and you'd be surprised how effective the old stuff can be. I have a bunch of customers that have done that and mention the lights are as good as any newer car they drive. Bright doesn't mean that you can see it and the pattern the headlight provides is REALLY important.
