Hey a shout out, I have two friends that bought your complete 408 motors around 3-4 years ago, they have beat them hard, and they are still running with no issues.
The first time i saw it i scratched my head also. Then I remember that every 1-piece SBC made after 1986 has an internal balance damper, with a weighted flexplate. Odd combo, but yup, it works.
