hey, guys.
I generously coated the slip yoke/transmission end with ATF but what kind of lube is appropriate for the differential end of the driveshaft?

Also, these u-bolts only need ~20 ft/lbs, correct?

Thanks for any advice!!

nothing needed but a very little chassis grease helps center the caps

Clean and dry on the ujoint cap to yoke surfaces, and the slip joints were greased with the same grease they used on the other greasable points in the chassis.

Thanks to all for the input, fellas.

By slip joint, do you mean the end that slides onto the splines in the tail shaft of the transmission? I wasn't even worried about that end as it's inside the seal and gets bathed in ATF (for automatics, obviously), doesn't it?? With that idea rattling around in my non-mechanically inclined brain, I just coated the whole thing with transmission fluid inside and out and slid it right in. Should I reevaluate that procedure?

I thought you meant you had a slip joint in the driveline itself. (but you did say yoke) sorry.
A slip (yoke) into the trans is fluid lubricated, so you are good.
