I need a clutch fan for the Dart. Looking for a fan that fits the shroud for a 22" rad. What size fan do I need?

Bigblock ?... How much room do you have between radiator and waterpump ?.... Hayden Clutch fan .. all day long ... long or short nose .... which ever you decide let us see photos ..

I’ve a selection of them in Phoenix. Pm me and I’ll send some pictures.

68 Dart GTS, 383. 22" RAD, Mostly stock

You can’t fit a clutch fan without moving the radiator forward. Even the Hayden 2947 is too big. Stick with a fixed fan and spacer.

Measure it!
FWIW..........

For reference the MP 4120758 is 3-5/16" where as the Hayden 2947 is 2-3/4" I believe.

The Hayden 2947 is 2.7”, then add .5” at least for clearance between the core and face of the clutch, there’s just not enough room unless the radiator is moved back.

Good info on Hayden clutch guys .. i was sure that it would fit ... SO big block guys have been using a fixed fan ONLY?? If that is the case i will use a SPAL dual fan setup .. i do believe they have one for a 22 almost 23 inch across radiator ...

I tried, had to move the radiator back and then it still didn’t cool at idle and low speed moving(traffic). So I went with Derale dual fan set with their PWM controller, it’s works AWESOME!

Can you elaborate on DERALE setup ... I am installing a big block in my 69 dart with a 22 almost 23 inch across radiator and 18 inch tall.. My issue also is possible interference on water pump pulley to fan contact .. SO i opted to go with dual fan setup due to more room in center of radiator with dual fan setup ... I called b-cool and they recommended p/n 75007 dual fan spal setup .. Does ANYBODY know how what dual fan setup works with a large tube 2 row radiator works ?

I run the ECP 26” radiator with a Flowkooler pump and this Derale dual fan set up. I ran into the same issue with a factory 22x19 brass/copper 4 row, room at the water pump. So I converted to a bigger radiator and moved it back which gained me almost 3/4”.

Many use a Jaguar or M-B clutch/fan since they are thinner. I recall 2-3/8" from w.p. pulley to front of clutch. Same bolt pattern and pilot hole.

That’s the Hayden 2765, which is a bit longer than the 2947.

I have been running a 17" mech. fan on my 505" 68 fastback, w/ an elec. 15" pusher/ mounted as far ahead of the rad. as possible. The pusher is set to come on at 200 , and only comes on , on the hottest days, mostly screwing around in town. I currently am building a 12" elec. dual fan set up on a shroud, and keeping the 15" pusher as the same it is now. I jumped the two elec fans that I have tied together, and don`t think they will do the trick, the pusher may be the only thing that will make them work. Will post results when I get the shroud finished and installed in the car. I watched the fan comparison on engine masters, and don't think a full mech. fan will hurt a big block as much as it did the little 350 chev engine. But, u know how us hotrodders are. I run an 1 1/4" / 2 tube crossflow 28x19" alum. rad. , and don't have room for even the short clutch fan--------
I may have the elec. set up for sale , ( which would probly keep a lesser engine cool) , -----------more to come later----------

I have a Volvo 2 speed fan (same as the infamous Taurus fan) that I couldn’t use due to the power steering pump with an 8 rib pulley trying to occupy the same space. So I went with the Derale dual fan set up. Ended up going back to manual steering so the Volvo fan just sits in a box, never even ran along with its 2 speed controller.

I think you’ll be fine with just the puller fan set up.....do you have ac?

5.7 HEMI...... Can you do me a favour and measure thickness of your radiator and measure thickness of DERALE fan in then center .. THANKS

Radiator is 2.75 and the Derale fan set up is 4.0” (that’s to the back of the fan motor).

Had to give it a try, too tight a fit for a big block A body. Put the fixed fan and spacer back on.

the M/B fans are almost a flush mount as the clutch is nested inside the fan blades.

Can somebody ... tell me if you have a big block installed ( specifically a 400 ) in a 69 Dart in normal motor mount position .. what is the exact distance from the water pump front pulley face to the radiator inside support upper brace ... THANKS

OK ... i must of talked to 5 different radiator people and none of them guranteed me that a 22 inch radiator would cool my 700 HP and 700 TQ stroker in a body... so i ended up talking to GLENRAY radiator .. so happens that this guy has 1200 hp 572 HEMI with ONLY a Flex fan with NO ISSUES ... and of course one of his 3 core radiators .. he told me GRIFFIN radiators are WELL ENGINEERED aluminum radiators and will do the job... He informed me what flex fan to order and NO elecdctric cooling fans needed ... BUT i opted to order 2 1350 SPAL fans for the bottom of the rad for pushers .. i will have them mounted behind bumper ... SO now on to making frame ties for a dart with torque boxes ..
