Think these tires are too close to the body?

Good news, the tire shop agreed to replace them with 235/70-15s. That’s what was on it before. Thanks for all your comments.

You need 60 series tires not 70.
275-60 will fit on that car with a stock 15 x 7 rim with 4.25" back space.

Well they originally had 235/70-15s so I’m just gonna go with those because that’s what my tire man recommended.

Those Coopers are the tire of choice around here for the oval track gang on the classes that have to run DOT approved shoes.

The DOT 15" radials of choice?
This is "damning with faint praise" for sure. :D

It's nice that they got you a tire that would work. Many places wouldn't do that but I think you need a new "tire guy".

You spent quite a bit on truck tires... They are super hard, deep tread truck tires with a diameter of 28.95 inches? The width is remarkably appropriate at 10.40 section width.

You can make it work but next time do your HW. We all make mistakes in building. The car sits like a jacked up 4x4 pickup truck and I can't tell from that picture but it looks like the tires sit outside the quarter panel.

You need to space the rear back. That will take care of the height issue but I see several other problems going on as well. Wheel and tire fitment isn't hard, it just takes patience, time and thinking.

Here is a 10.40 section width / 26" tire under my car before I mini tubbed it.

So with the 10.40 / 26 is that everything stock no spring relocation. If so what are the rim sizes and backspace and what size tires and are they sitting in your shop not being used I'll take them off your hands if so. Thank Jeff

That is with an offset shackle kit and original 318 leaf springs. The axle was not moved back at all. Mopar Offset Shackle / Spring Hanger Set

I don't remember the offset/backspace. That was back when it had an 8.75 and the **** small bolt pattern under it. Now I run a dana and BBP. It takes about 30 seconds to measure it though.

I sold those wheels and tires to earthmover here. They are centerlines. I got them because I had that damned small bolt pattern and was too stupid to spend a few extra bucks to switch over to BBP. I never liked those wheels. I run Weld S71 wheels now. Learned an expensive lesson though.
