Were 340 and or 360 exhaust manifolds the same for all body lines A,B,C,E ? Anyone got pictures showing the differences ?(if there were any differences). Is there much difference between 340 and 360 manifolds ? just asking ?

Lots of differences over the years.

The 1968-70 340 A & E body type is what most people want.

By the time the 340 was in use in B-bodies (1971), they changed manifolds.

all 360 manifold styles were different based on A,B, or C Body.68-69 340 is one style, and is of the highest quality. The 1970 looks the same, has the same number, but is much cheaper looking. The 71-73 is another. The 71-73 340 manifolds will fit the A and B body, but resemble the 318 manifolds. By the smog years of 74, they changed again.

I wouldn't bother with 340 manifolds to expensive. There barely and power difference over 360. Even 318 manifolds are within 5 hp. If you got cash or looking for stock 340 look.

That's in part what I wanted to know. If using a set of 360 manifolds were close enough with lower cost. Thinking of buying 71 RR (no driveline) Want to install a 318/360. But did not know if I would need that special driver's side manifold to wrap around the steering shaft.

The consensus back in the day was that the factory 340 manifolds were a good high flow performance part. I went from headers back to manifolds because of the issue with header fit. the last I knew , it was just as expensive to run good fitting headers as it was to run factory style 340 manifolds.

The 71 models don't wrap around, they look more like the 318 version. I would use the 360 manifolds and custom exhaust. the engine will run fine, and it is cheaper. The 68-70 340 was a 10:5 compression, the 71 on was 9:5, so the performance was ebbing anyway.
