Anyone running a air gap on a 68 or 69 Dart 340. I'm looking at both but wondering if the air gap will fit under the hood of a 68/69 Dart. The rpm will fit but not sure about the air gap

Hey Joe, i can tell you that there was absolutely no trouble in my 68 Valiant (SB Engine) with the performer rpm manifold, 1" carb Spacer / Holley DP type carb and drop base air cleaner.

The Air Gap will keep the intake air cooler so you can stuff a little more peak HP into the einge. But the Performer will be warmer and should have better cold driveability if you do any driving in colder months. I see your address is upstate NY.

Yup up here in snow and cold country. It was actually snowing here last Sunday a little, and about a half an hour south of us those folks woke up this past Monday to 4 inches on the ground. I store my car in my heated garage and I usually put it away mid October depending on the weather and once the roads clear off from the salt and sand early April I will get it out for a ride but not this year I only had it out twice because the weather here in April was so bad. I'm thinking the Performer RPM, couple of guys in our CNY Mopar Club have the Performer RPM and they really like it. I actually had that intake on my 68 Coronet RT and she ran pretty good with that on it, just wasn't sure with one worked the best on a 340 car

I remember seeing somewhere that the rpm performer and the air gap are the same height as the factory 340 dual plane intake. I have a 1972 factory air cleaner and had to put a 1/4 in spacer on to clear the bowls on my holley 750 ultra double pumper 4150 and no spacer under carb and will fit under stock hood and I’m using the air gap intake.

run the performer if car is not on blocks for the winter
and run hot air stove to the air cleaner
do not wash down your cylinder walls with raw gas
or go EFI
