Not an A body but it is turbod

It would be cool if ya did. I have the complete parts list and prices of ya need it. Did ya get your carb issue sorted out?
Nope. No vacuum leaks, i've narrowed it down to accel pump nozzle size. A local racer has some he's going to let me try this weekend if all goes well.

Edit: Secondary diaphragm springs too

Well I broke it!!!! I thought I had broke something in the trans! Real bad vibration at 45 and I just knew I had overrun the sprag or the governor came apart. But it shifted great, Barked the tires on the 1-2 shift and the fluid looks like new! Took to my friend who builds transmissons for a living and built this one and he just laughed “you aren’t making enough power to break it” ! Well he was right, turns our to be a broke trans mount and bad u joint. 1/8th mile burnouts will resume tomorrow evening. Lesson here is guys don’t overlook the small things!!

Still broke! New u joints, trans mount. Still has the clunk, but the vibration is gone! We will blow this 999 apart and see what’s up. It’s gonna sit for a while and i focus on the duster.

GT45 for $169? Add a 0 at the end and it would still be 1/2 price...GT45's are usually a Garrett dual ball bearing mega T04 frame big ticket item. The GT45's on ebay under $200 are just that in name, denoting the frame size. Did you catch the inducer size in mm on that Ebay turbo (77 ish?)? I am planning a 273 with a turbo and a Carter Marine carb or a MS2/MPFI with a TB. did you weld that cross pipe flex joint or is it removable?

It is removable. There is V band just after the bend where it starts to go back up toward the Turbo, right where my thumb is.
The next phase of this build will have another header instead of manifold on the drivers side and I will redo the crossover.
I believe my Turbo was listed as a 70mm. It may be changed also during part 2.

Update: I’ve been beating on this thing almost daily with no issues except for the clunk noise. I bought a 727 from Carlise and just got the 2800 stall converter.
Let a friend borrow it over the weekend to move some furniture, well about 4 hours later he called! I was thinking that this can’t be a good call: he leaned it out , rod out the side, accident.... etc!
Nope he said the front wheel is about to fall off. Found out the outer wheel bearing was gone, destroyed. I replaced all of them and now the “trans noise” is gone! Turns out a roller from the wheel bearing had gotten between the hub and spindle and was grinding away for 1500 miles!!!!
Never would have thought it was a bearing, didn’t have that kinda noise. I checked them before and no noise when spinning the wheel, but it didn’t have a load on it either. Lesson learned . Well more driving and burnouts and now I have a spare 727. To be continued with a 360 and efi over the fall/winter.

I'm into this for sure! Is 4psi the max you have turned it up to? Bone stock 318?

Yes, I may hit like 5 ish. Stock 91 318 converted to carb and non computer controlled distributior. Gonna work on the fueling some more and up the boost to 6 or 8 in the up coming weeks.

Guys I broke it again... actually I’m not sure what happened. Coming up the highway, 70ish, everything just working together like it should. Accelerated to pass a car and heard a noise, tried again and it went pop and the truck fell on its face. Here is the damage. Either I sucked up a rock or something or its a casting failure. Either way I’m deciding the next step: buy another Turbo and ride, go NA for a while or late model Hemi swap. Obviously the last option is the most expensive. Option 1 is the cheapest. Enjoy the destruction pics of ebay/China goodness. PS, the engine runs fine but the truck is a dog with no boost, overfueled and no timing turtle!

Oh no! Whatever it was, looks like it all started at the inlet. Maybe a rock or armor clad June bug hit it.

Buy another eBay special and throw it on there. If the motor is still fine, you lucked out and it means it's your destiny to continue pushing that little 318. : )

Thanks subcom, That’s pretty much what I was thinking, but I though about the other options. The 318 loves the boost!!! The saddest part of the whole thing is my Turbo 390 duster is craving the love that this POS Truck gets. I bet I’ve only put 20 miles on it since putting the engine in almost a year ago and just walk by it in the garage. I’ve even thought about just robbing the Turbo of it since it’s the same frame/style gt45. But I will probably just order a new one tonight. The duster will have its day soon.

I've got a turbo'd intercooler truck of that vintage, myself, but it's just not the same.

And my '79 truck had the exact same wheel bearing failure. I updated to later spindles with larger outer bearings. I'm surprised you had that failure since your truck has those large bearings automatically

The duster sees no love because that truck is NEAT

Thanks, I would love to see pics of your truck!

I was surprised myself about the bearing. Never had an issue like that before, and I wrench on a lot of stuff.

That is so cool!! I love square body dodges I have had two of them both short beds one was my every day driver for about 12 years. I really want to do a 94-01 ram and turbo it.

I had a 87 short bed 10yrs ago. You can still find them around here (NC) all the time.

Ohhhh! I like that turbo setup on the Duster. Especially the Magnum serpentine setup. I've been thinking about redoing my hotside around a magnum front also and even trying to squeeze in the AC compressor. Looks like it would fit.

Judging by your skill I bet you can make it fit. That would be awesome! How the FI tech treating you?
