Hi looking for some information found a 68 383 S Barracuda car has all new sheet metal installed and car is painted matching number motor that hasn’t been started yet. all interior new& redone the car just would need a good going over to recheck everything. 1968 formula S 383 notchback I don’t have any pictures he’s asking 22K what you think it’s worth? Owner is down sizing to many cars he said he had more money than that in it. Thanks

Hard to say without pictures, but in my opinion, if it is as clean as you say, and complete or nearly complete, I'd say he is in the ballpark. When I see what some people are asking for starter projects,... It's pretty easy to justify what he is asking for a nearly complete car. Metal work and paint alone can add up to what he is asking (depending on what all was done).

We all have more than that in it. Ypu almost never get your investment back. He wants almost what a complete car is worth.
Without pictures, there's no way to give an opinion. It might look awesome, or have more waves than the ocean. Notchback is less desirable than the fastback.

And auto is less desirable than a 4-speed. Color would make a difference also (partial to buffed silver myself).

Depends a bunch if it has the factory exhaust manifolds, 065 radiator, kickdown linkage, and 893 oil pan. Those parts there can cost around $2-3K to buy if you can find them.

Yes car has the original manifolds original rebuilt accurate exhaust was installed. oil pan and all linkage is original. and all new ome wiring was installed. I just don’t know the value for a body cars as I would have to sell my all original black 69 GTX to fund this car

Depends on who you ask on that Fury..... I passed on a LOT of fastbacks to find my notchback. There was a poll taken on here if people liked the fastback or notchback better. Fastback won, but not by a lot. I found a site that listed production numbers for the 68 Barracuda. Of the 383 Formula S cars made in 1968, there were 963 Fastbacks built (553 with Manual Trans, 395 with Auto Trans). In the Notchback, there were 252 built (154 with Manual Trans, 99 with Auto Trans).

Price comes down to who wants what, but the notchbacks are more rare, and rarity drives up price. Only thing more rare was the 383 S convertibles..... well,... not counting the Super Stock Hemi Cudas, but there were more of those SS Hemi cars made in Auto Trans (61 with Auto Trans, 9 with Manual Trans) than there was in convertible (40 with Manual Trans, 24 with Auto Trans).

That being said,... I don't think anyone would turn down a SS Hemi car for a Formula S convertible.

So the title states '69, all other posts state '68........which is it????
What color??
If it is '68 radiator should be 033

Fat fingers 68 thanks for the information. I guess just because they only made 99 383 automatics they are not a high dollar car.

I guess it depends on what you call a high dollar car. If everything is there as far as correct parts go, power train is rebuilt, body is well done and just needs assembly, very little cash outlay required with only reassembly involved, I think 22k is a steal. 340 Dusters are going for more than that, it seems.

If u don't buy it I WILL..........NOTCH LOVER here!!!

I will be the bad guy and say 14k max if I was looking at it. But here is my take for on it for you. If you do not mind the price and have the money buy it. If you are buying it to flip then you will be over paying. Money is made at purchase... not at the sell...
