I have seen slantsixdan mention best in his opinion and would be old napa parts, no longer available, I believe. I need good cap and rotors , for points and mopar ECU. I imagine only way to get anything good would be to find old stock/ or is there anything now that is " adequate" at least.????

is " adequate" at least.????

Best out of the box items seem to be the Echlin/NAPA MO-6 caps and MO-3000 rotors are what you are looking for. They surface on eBay frequently. DonPal at the .org site has been running an intense test of caps & rotors.

Another thing is there really any difference between caps nd rotors fr points vs Electronic UEC dust.???????? I figure the good parts are brass????

Airtex Wells has a cap still 5d1090a that’s got copper and brass contacts. Rock auto under 10$. The cap is the same for electronic and points. Won’t say it’s the best but by today’s standards probably pretty good.

Yes copper/brass is what I am looking for....
I wonder if NAPA has any Echlin with copper/brass.???... I was unable to tell on puter..

Also look for old Standard/ Blue Streak. "They are blue!!"

Don’t know about the Napa. Also didn’t know you had a slant. My DA didn’t look at what forum it was listed under. Should have known when the slantsixdan came up. 5d1022a airtex wells for the slant.

I appreciate the input. When I hit that under Summits page it showed for a 8 cylinder. It did show a cap for a slant under another manu. and number. I did call NAPA and they ordered what he thinks is a brass cap.
I just want a good cap and rotor. the New one I have on there now from O Really has issues!!! LOL ....

I also found the slant.org thread and I will also keep a lookout at Feebay for those old Echlins numbers.

Like most , I get tired of sub par chineese crap parts...

Yes slantsixdan mentioned DonPal 6 pages write up!!! Alot of info.!!!! I just want to pay $20-25 for GOOD cap and rotor!! LOL

I have been buying nos off ebay. Got a few caps with extra wide copper contacts. And nos rotors too.

Distributor themselves? Got a free one from a slant friend with an 11r advance. regeared and cleaned up. Now i run about 10* initial. Originally had a 15r. Good bushings.

At one time Accel had a combo cap and rotor for the slant 6. Tan cap like the factory, brass terminal.A heavy thick cap.Maybe it's still available.

I have some nos and old store stock what color you need black or tan? Have the other parts if needed also shoot me a pm.

Can someone elaborate on what issues are caused by a sub-standard cap/rotor? I've got my Slant running decently, but there's this odd occasional miss. The PO has new items on there (no indication of brand or part number) and after reading this, I'm wondering if it's worth replacing them with the Echlin/Napa parts that were recommended.

NAPA/ ECHLIN used to have a marine line. more $$$ but top quality

Find some old store stock from the 70's The new stuff works but is much thinner. Accel makes good stuff but $$$

Yeah i got some goodies on flea bay. Not priced super great. But n.o.s 60s and 70s is worth it.

Usually a decent amount to pick from. Lots of companies made em back then too.

I try to keep it nos mopar but it gets expensive to have on a shelf.

I have a couple of those and borg warners with really wide contacts. Must have been for heavy duty applications or something

Basically...when i see made in usa or canada inside the cap itself...im happy.
