I’m replacing my worn out clutch fan with a flex fan and 1 inch spacer. Right now I have 2 inches between the fan and the radiator. Is this too much of a gap? Should I attempt a 2 inch spacer? I do have a OEM shroud.

Thx in advance.

Either choice will be fine. The shroud is what really makes a difference. If it was me, I'd use the one-inch spacer to cut down on the PITA factor installing the fan.

The fan should be in the shroud and if it's to close to the rad it will only pull the air from the center and not the corners of the rad, you need a couple inches from fan to rad.

The fan should be just going into the shroud, not half way in. This creates a tunnel vacuum effect draws more air out. With no shroud, you want the fan as close to the rad as possible.
