Hello everyone,

I have a question if anyone has a good kit out there or has stuff for sale to do a drum to disc conversion. I also have a 8 3/4 rear end that i am doing this too

Don't know what it's for, but I second the suggestion for Doctor Diff. I have bought quite a bit of stuff from him. He is extremely knowledgeable and helpful.

Wilwood is good stuff, but from what I have seen, the prices reflect that too. Prices at Dr. Diff seemed more reasonable. The standard 10.7" disc kit starts at $600, the 11.75" kit starts at $650. Price goes up a little from there depending on if you want new lug studs, drilled and slotted rotors, and custom E-brake cables. Only reason I remember all that is I just went through pricing it all out for my Charger, so I had my notes still.

If I remember correctly though, the nice thing about his kits is that they will work with both the stock tapered wheel bearings and the Green bearings, so you won't have to mess with changing out the axle bearings.

I thought about doing it to my Barracuda and upgrading to the big bolt pattern, but with being in the middle of doing my Charger, the cost of doing the front disc swap, rear brakes, and rear axles,.... added up to be too much to justify right now. I will keep driving my small bolt pattern drum brakes, at least until the Charger is complete.

Dr. Diff has a rear disc kit that lets you keep the sbp. I had already swapped the fronts to disc and didn't want to go bbp. The kit also allows for the factory parking brake, just need a new cable, and 14" wheels.

I've done 2 of them. Both have plusses and minuses.

I've used the TSM Home brake kit. This is a nice kit that uses factory calipers and dicks combined with their brackets. I liked it because I could go buy parts at the local advanced auto parts store any day.

I've also used the wilwood kit. This kit is nicer, but you'll need to order pads and parts as needed.

If you are going to drop the coin on disc brakes, thatis the time to get rid of the shitty small bolt pattern. Or..spend your money 2 or 3x over. I've learned to spend mine once and spend it well.

Yeah, i am already doing the BBP swap. Doing a disc brake conversion on the front so just might as well do the back.

What is the TSC kit?

This is a Doctor Diff Rear Brake kit. Just do you know they look all done. :)

OK, Guys.....I am thinking of doing this conversion as well. But was wanting to use the JEGS 630640 Kit to do the conversion. I am not going for high end performance, and this kit seems to have all the bells and whistles that I would want. Any thoughts?

Well, I would wager you need to have the “green” style axle bearings for that kit. It doesn’t explicitly say, but most of the rear disk brake kits, especially the cheaper ones, won’t work with the factory tapered axle bearings.

DoctorDiff’s kit, while a little more expensive, works with the OE style tapered axle bearings.

Ok.....Someone tell me what a "Green" style axle bearing is.... are you talking about a "sealed" bearing instead of a tapered bearing and seat?

Yes, sealed bearing instead of the OE style tapered bearing. The cheaper disk kits don't deal with the axle end play adjustability that you have with the tapered bearings and adjusters.
